The Fishers of Men North Carolina East Legacy division held their second tournament for 2010 on May 5th. The tournament was held on the Perquimans River in Hertford NC. The day started with the threat of thunderstorms but the bad weather stayed away. The 14 teams who competed brought to scales 43 bass and all were released alive to fight again another day. A total weight of 78.83 lbs was recorded.
The weekend kicked off with the Friday night meeting which was held at the Hertford Baptist Church in Hertford NC. What a wonderful job they did feeding a crowd of hungry fishermen and their families a wonderful spaghetti and meat balls diner, with a salad and Italian bread. It was great and enjoyed by all. The ladies at the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabeth City provided the deserts along with a beautiful sheet cake provided by Farm Fresh of Elizabeth City. Mr. Edgar Roberson leader of the Men's Group at the church brought the wonderful message on “What is a Legacy”. Thank you to the Hertford Baptist Church for a wonderful place to hold our meeting and also the town of Hertford for providing the facilities.
The weigh-in kicked right on time at 1:00 PM. It was touch and go for a long while between several teams until our first place team of Gerald & Morgan Murray brought their limit of five bass to the scale. Their total weight was 12.07 and was anchored by a nice 3.27 lb bass which was the big bass for the tournament. The Murray’s took home $457.00 in total winnings. Second place went to the team of Rob & Colin Campbell with a limit of bass that weighed 9.21. The Campbell’s also had second big fish, 3.04 lb bass. The Campbell won $263.00 for their days effort. Third place went to the team of Charles & Laurel Goff who bought 8.86 pounds to the scale and received $135.50 in winnings. The team of Gil Burke & Buddy Madden came in forth with a total weight of 8.36, and winnings of $84.00. Congratulations to all the teams who participated and to the team of David & Jessica Buchanan who won the JB Custom rod raffle drawing.
