Woodruff & Reter win on the Potomac River 21.44 lbs.

April 21st, 2012
Potomac River
Marshall Hall Boat Ramp

This was Maryland's 2nd tournament fishing on the Potomac River. We had 14 out of 18 teams bringing in a 5 fish limit with no dead fish weighed in. Great job!!!

The 2nd team weighing in early (about 45 minutes early) brought in the big bag of the day at 21.44 lbs. Mike Woodruff & Paul Reter had to wait it out as each team tried to knock them off. When all 18 teams finished weighing in their bags, they finished on top of the standings. With their winnings of $886 their catch also included the 2nd big bass of the tournment with earned them an additional pay of $72.00.

Fishing within eyesite of the winning team was Tom & Jimmy Rufenacht. As both these teams found a hot grassbed on the river that brought in the top two bags. Their weight of 19.55 lbs brought them 2nd place winnings & 1st Place bonus bucks good for $561.00.

Both teams stated chatterbaits & traps were their go to baits.

Finishing in the last paying spot of 3rd place was Adam Weidman & Josh Kreider with another nice bag of 19.42 lbs. They won $248 for their effort. They too were fishing grass & a carolina rig was their ticket to bringing in their bigger fish.

Just finishing out of the money was Greg Wilder & Mike Ortel. Their 5 bass topped out at 18.31 good for 2nd bonus bucks. Finishing out the top five was Bob Wolf & John Dell, they had 15.68 lbs.

The big bass was caught by Brent Thackston & Don Carter - this big bass of 6.23 lbs was good for $108.00.

We want to thank Indian Head Baptist Church for hosting our tournament. This church had been good to Fishers of Men over the years opening their doors to the Delaware Division, New Jersey Division and now the Maryland Division. This is one of my favorite stops to make. Their staff had prepared a great meal for all the men - roast beef, mashpotatoes, greens & desert. Jim Gerber presented the message and brought 2 recommitments.

Fishers of Men would like to thank all of our fine sponsors; Skeeter Boats, Yamaha, Stren, Pflueger, Strike King Lure Company, Nester Hosiery, Markel American Insurance, Marshall’s Marine, Power-Pole, Duckett Fishing, Buckeye Lures, Keelshield, Solar Bat, Jacobs Glass, Helly Hansen Workwear, and Rejuvenade.

Also I would like to thank our 2 local sponsors in Red Mill Tackle and Reel Expecations for their door prizes and raffles for the Friday Night Meeting. Also thanks to JB Customs Rods - 2 Rods were given away as raffles through them. JB Custom Rods

Jim & Tom Rufenacht wanted to give a "shout out" to North Harford Collision Center. They want to show their appreciation for their support they have given them over the years. North Harford Collision Center
