Yatesville Lake Results: Mar 24, 2012
The East Kentucky Division got our 2012 season off to a excellent start on Friday March 23rdth at Meads Branch Freewill Baptist church. The folks at Meads Branch really went out of their way again for the third straight year to make us feel welcome. As in the two previous years an excellent meal with all the trimmings, including fried sweet potatoes and too many deserts to even mention was prepared for hungry fishermen.
Our service time began with special singing from the gifted voice of Tonya Castle.
Brother Robert Carpenter brought a message about “which boat are we on” from the books of Jonah and John. When we are not listening to God, disobeying God, our boat may continue smooth for a while but eventually the storm comes and we are tossed about. Only when we turn our life back over to God can we step safely on the shore. The other boat mention in the book of John shows how we can be struggling in life doing things our own way, but when God directs the placement of our nets “cast your nets to the right side of the boat” the blessings are beyond what our nets can hold.
Our meeting time on Friday concluded with drawing for starting positions and door prizes. Charlie Bob Burnette won the main door prize of a rod-n-reel combo from Borders Sporting Goods in Ashland.
Saturday morning started with rain as storms had passed overnight. Our six teams took off into the morning air at around 7:15 AM to light sprinkles of rain. The mostly cloudy day gave way to a few gaps of sunshine as weigh in time approached.
All the teams were welcomed to weigh in with a cheeseburger and apple pie from McDonalds and soft drinks. Most of the teams brought fish to scales. We really appreciate everyone who came out and participated in the event and we look forward to seeing you at Paintsville Lake next month. Be sure to get your entries in 8 days prior, by March 30th, to event to avoid late fee.
Thanks again to everyone at Meads Branch Freewill Baptist for the extraordinary hospitality that you displayed again this year and the food that went beyond expectations.
