The North East Arkansas Division of Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail held its second 2012 divisional tournament at Lake Charles State Park on March 31st. Our tournament was preceded by a Friday Night Meeting held at the Powhatan Community Center. Several of our fishermen brought their family to the Friday Night Meeting. Our Division Director spoke to those in attendance on the subject of being intentional in life. The fishing has been slow on Lake Charles even though the weather is great. Some nice fish have been caught but not in quantity.
The teams blasted off early Saturday morning at 6:30. Most fishermen expected the fish to be shallow and on bed getting ready to spawn. Some of the teams found fish shallow. A couple tried to sight fish bedding fish but couldn't get them to bite. Most teams brought in fish for weigh-in but not in the big numbers like they had hoped. A few of the teams figured out how to caught the weary bass and weighed in a good sack of fish.
Our first place winners were Mitchell Drum and Kevin Owens. They weighed in five bass totaling 12.10 lbs. They also won second place big bass with a largemouth that weighed 3.85 lbs. The team of Tobin Baker and Kevin Riney came in second place with a five fish sack that weighed 11.27 lbs. They also had first place big bass with a bucket mouth that weighed 5.51 lbs. Third place honors went to Jerry Harris and Eric Deckelman with four fish that weighed 6.65 lbs.
The team of Mitchell Drum and Kevin Owens moves up to first place overall in our NEA Division. We have two teams tied for second place overall. Those teams are Jerry Harris and Eric Deckeman and the team of Tobin Baker and Kevin Riney.
