Our second and last Legacy event got underway with our Friday night meeting being held at pavilion #4 at Bald Eagle State Park. 7 of the 9 teams were represented at the meeting with 16 total in attendance.

Our speaker for the night was long time Team and Legacy member, Dan Peterman, who shared some personal life stories and how they related to what the bible tells us. He shared about being a young boy, and after his pap told him not to stray off the path down to the berry patch, and how Dan knew better and strayed anyway….only to step on a bee’s nest and end up falling down a hill. His pap picked him up, brushed him off and did not yell at Dan even after telling him not to do so. Dan reminded us how that parallels the bible and where God wants to lead us down the right path by giving us a personal guide by the name of Jesus, and how even when we do stray off the path, Jesus will still and always love us. He will pick us up and brush us off and love us. Thanks brother Dan, for sharing with us and being a great example and role model for our series.

The next morning, 9 teams were on their way at safe light. Conditions were overcast and temps in the mid 80’s, with some early light sprinkles.

At 1:00 pm, the boats started down the Hunters Run bay on their way into the weigh in. All teams were able to find at least one 12” or better bass to weigh. As the scales closed, it was the team of TJ Bush and James Ellis ousting the rest of the field with the only limit of 5 keepers weighing 7.84 lbs. Last years winners, Jim and John Orichosky were able to claim second place with 5.54 lbs, and third place went to James Walters and his pap Richard Nearhoof with 4.97 lbs. Father and son team of Ted and Ty Kephart took home big bass honors with a nice 3.09 largemouth.

I would like to say thank you again this year for all the adults taking the time to take these kids out fishing. I’m sure we all have lists of things to get done, but none can be more meaningful than the smiles that come from these kids. I appreciate all of you and look forward to next season.
