F.O.M. April Tournament- Sam Rayburn Results: Apr 28, 2012
The April tournament began with a great meal and fellowship at First Baptist Church in Broaddus. Daron Skero and S.O.O.N. ministries provided us with sausage, brisket sandwiches and stuffed baked potatoes with all the fixins. We topped it off with Debra's peach cobblers and sent the folks into the sancuary with full bellies and smiles on their faces.
Rusty West, one of our own fishermen and Pastors, brought an inspirational message about "Time" and the Lord moved. We had eight rededications and, praise the Lord, one new salvation! This is the affirmation that FOM is on task as a ministry arm in our mission field.
Once again our fishermen proved that they have a heart for children as they dug deep for funds for our project this year, The Learning Center childcare facility, and donated over $2500.00 to their cause. The Lord is going to bless you for your generosity!
Saturday morning saw us on the ramp at 5:00 am launching our 37 teams along with two other tournaments which made it a challenge for our volunteers as we ended up managing the parking for all of the tournaments. Thanks to Greg Kingry, Eric Omenson and Eric Silva for handling this thankless chore.
The weather was partly sunny and temperatures were warm but it was very windy and we had many teams that dealt with waves over the bow all day.
1st place went to the team of John Hope and Justin Morton with a sack weighing in at 15.34. This team also won the Big Bass money with their kicker fish at 6.57. Second place went to the team of Paul Proctor and Bill Wiggins with 14.73 and second place Big Bass at 4.79. Gary Medley and Buddy Medley were third with 13.70.
I would like to thank all of our volunteers that made this event possible. Carol and Dwight Omenson, Greg and Ellen Kingry, Eric Omenson, Randon Polk, Eric Silva, Rusty West, Bill Blanton, Bill Boyett, Mike McDonald and last but by no means least Debra Polk who has worked endlessly all month to keep me straight and on track so you guys have a smooth tournamnet.
Special thanks to our newest sponsor, Bite It Baits, for the tackle packs, and to Trey Kistler of Kistler Rods for the two rods for the raffle.
We would like to thank all of our local sponsors, First Baptist Church Broaddus, Skero’s Furniture, S.O.O.N. Ministries, Kistler Rods, Bite It baits, Bass Pro Shops, Jackson Hill Marina, Resonant Hosting, New Tech Global, Eyedeeas Promotional Products and Oilfield Christian Fellowship.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our National Sponsor's that make Fishers of Men possible across the United States; Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Stren, Pflueger, Markel Marine Insurance, Nester Hosiery, Strike King Lure Company, Power-Pole, Marshall’s Marine, Helly Hansen, Keelshield, Spot Remover, Jacobs Glass, Solar Bat, Duckett Fishing, Berkley, and Rejuvenade
Our next tournament will be May 18-19 on Lake Conroe. We will have our meeting at West Conroe Baptist Church. S.O.O.N. ministries will provide the meal and has said they are "Pulling out all the stops" for this meal. We will launch from Stow Away Marina off of Calvary Rd. See you there and invite a lost friend.
