The May tournament at Lake Conroe started off with a bang as Texas East fishermen and their families had a most amazing meal provided by S.O.O.N. Ministries. Darin Skero and his team cooked up a huge meal of beef (ribeyes!) and chicken fajitas and all the fixin's. Charro beans, mexican rice and bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers topped it off. Donnie Parr (best friends) provided chocolate steam cake which was enjoyed by all. What a blessing it is to have such awesome meals provided for us! Thanks S.O.O.N.!

Nathan Lino, Pastor North East Houston Baptist Church, brought our message of substitution sacrifice in a story from the old testament of Joseph being sold into slavery by his own family and then redeeming them by standing up for them to Pharoah and bringing them into prosperity when they could have and should have been left to starve. Pastor Nathan left us to think about how Jesus was our Joseph in that he redeemed us when we in fact do not deserve it.

We launched 32 teams at first safe light and the fishing was tough. We had several teams that didn't weigh fish and only a few that weighed five fish stringers as the 16" minimum on this lake made the fishing a challenge. However, as Lake Conroe has proven itself to be a lake of large fish, our fishermen didn't disappoint. The team of Townsend/Richards took first place with a sack weighing in at 18.31. The team of Boyett/Springer once more made the top of the leaderboard with a 4 fish sack weighing in at 16.00 even. The new team of Ronshausen/Penso rounded out our top three weighing in 15.08. First place big bass went to the team of Stoker/Oney with a 8.46 hawg. Townsend/Richards had second place big bass with a 8.36 kicker. All in all we had teams that had never fished the lake before that caught good fish and enjoyed the experience.

I want to thank the team that worked so hard to make this event happen, Larry Daigle, Eric Omenson, Greg and Ellen Kingry, Rusty West, Bill Blanton, Bill Boyett, Mike McDonald and of course my sweet bride of 39 years, Debra, who has worked tirelessly to make sure things go smoothly for registration and payout.

We would like to thank our local sponsors, Skero Furnithure, S.O.O.N. Ministries, Kistler Rods, New Tech Global, Stow Away Marina, Resonant Hosting, Bite It baits, Bass Pro Shops, Pie in the Sky Bakery, Uncle Bob's Restaurant.

Ministries has promised another spectacular meal and we will have many door prizes as this is our last event for the year. Bring a friend and family for the Friday meeting, the more the merrier!
