The Texas East/ Southeast Division got their tournament year off to a roaring start with a great meeting at First Baptist Church in Broaddus, Tx. Darin Skeero and S.O.O.N. ministries provided the fantastic ribs and sausage to get the meeting rolling and Brother Larry Daigle, Pastor, West Conroe Baptist Church, delivered an inspiring message and challenged us to "point our families in the right direction". There were many decisions made as the Gospel once more proved that it can move man's hearts. We had many door prizes and a special treat with Trey Kistler donating one of his "Z-Bone" rods for the raffle, thanks Trey!
As awesome as the meeting was on Friday night the weather on Saturday morning was "awe inspiring"! We had a magnificent display of the Lords power in the rain, wind and lightning that rolled in around 4:45am. Conditions were so dangerous that Al Odom stopped the launch and we held until nearly 8:00 am to allow the largest part of the storms center to pass. With that said we launched 36 of 37 teams in very rough conditions. The weather improved slightly but continued to rain throughout the day. When it was all said and done the fishermen once again proved that they will do whatever it takes to chase a lunker!
The winners of the February tournament for Texas East/Southeast were Mark Boyett and Lester Springer with a stringer weighing in at 17.35. The second place team was George Anderson and Rollan Dupre with a stringer weighing in at 17.25. Third was the team of Richey/Haynes with a weight of 12.46. Big bass was won by Anderson/Dupre with a fish weighing in at 7.80. Second place big bass went to M. Boyett/Springer with a fish weighing in at 5.23.
