A beautiful day on Lake Ida, little breeze, mostly sunny and nice. A great day to be on the water. We had our best ever record # of boats with 18. We had a total of 84 fish weighed by 17 of those boats for a total of 210 lbs (average fish 2.5 lbs.). One team had equipment failure early in the day and did not weigh their fish.
We had over 50 people at the Friday meeting and over 75 at the weigh-in. Over all another great event.

Winning anglers were:
Paul Rausch and his 6 yr old son Gunnar with 16.34 lbs. Paul also weighed in the big bass of the day at 4.56 lbs.
Gunnar (at 6 yrs old) by virtue of being the youth in the highest finishing boat was the winner of a custom rod, built by our chaplain, and an Abu Garcia reel supplied by the division. We give one of these away at every event.

In second place were Eric Fabano and Logan Kliendl with 16.01 lb. and the 2nd big bass with a 4.21 lb smallmouth. Eric & Logan also weighed in another smallmouth about the same size. Two beautiful fish.

In 3rd place were Durand and Dylan Peterson with at total of 15.02 lbs. Durand and Dylan now have finished 1st,2nd and 3rd in our tournaments this year and were named Season Champs for 2012. with 597 points of a possible 600. This earned Durand and his family a free 2 night stay in any Radisson hotel in the US for their efforts.

We come to the end of season 3 of our division. It has been another great experience. Watching God work in the people that are in the group regularly and watching the relationships of the families grow is one of the greatest pleasures of my life. This ministry is actually "creating a legacy" for the future.

We had 10 re-dedications this year and 3 first time commitments to Christ. We also celebrated today at the baptism of one of our youth members today. We congratulate her on her growth in Christ.

In year one, we had an average of 10 boats per event. Last year we averaged 12 boats and this year climbed to nearly 16 boats per event. (60% growth in 2 years)

Next for us will be the Ida Open, a challenge tournament between the 3 Legacy divisions in Minnesota. This is a non-points paying event, so non member adult/youth teams are welcome as well. It will be held this year on September 8th at Lake Ida near Alexandria. Ida is a great lake for fall smallmouth fishing and the 8th is the last day you can put one in your livewell this year, so don't miss this chance.

We hope to continue to grow and if you have interested in a Christian family oriented series with good fellowship and great competition, Legacy could be for you. Please join us next year. Contact me with any questions -- Rick Jones, Director
