Day One of the 2012 FOM Stren Team Series Central-Midwest Neely Henry Regional Championship

Fri. Oct. 5, 2012 Gadsden, AL… After a two-hour fog delay, 162 boats blasted off this morning out of Coosa River Landing in Gadsden, Alabama in search of a limit of Neely Henry bass that would place them at the top of the leader board going into Saturday’s final day of competition, with hopes of winning a brand new Skeeter 190/ZX -150hp Yamaha, VMAX package valued at more than $32,000.00. At the close of the scales with an extended hour of fishing, 147 of the 162 teams had connected with fish. 568 bass, weighing 1039.38 lbs were brought in, which included 81, 5-fish limits.
Alabama Northeast anglers, Chris Hollis and Chad Hall have nearly a 2-pound lead with 16.40 lbs.
Second place is presently being held by Chris Hunt and Bee Patrick, AL-NW, with 14.57.
Iowa teammates, Donald Peart, Jr. and Jory Heinecke are in third place with 13.72 lbs.
Fourth place is being held down by the Arkansas Northeast team of Jeff Cooper and John Crump with 13.57.
Rounding out the top five, just .07 lbs out of forth with 13.50 lbs, are Kevin Riney and Tobin Baker. Tobin and Kevin earned an extra $300.00 for their Day 1, 5.10 lbs, 2nd Big Fish.
The $500.00, 1st Big Fish Award went to Indiana South’s, Jason Yoder and Randy Spry, Jr. for their 5.17 lbs largemouth.
Teams from Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi are here in Gadsden, Alabama this week as a result of battling their way to the top of their respective divisions thru five qualifying events that were held this past spring and summer, thus earning them the privilege to compete for the $48,000.00 in prizes and cash awards of the 2012 FOM, Stren Team Series, Midwest-Central Regional Championship.
The top 10 teams by weight and the highest placing team from each division, not already qualified, along with the highest finishing Adult-Youth and Male-Female teams from all 2012 Regional Championships will earn a berth to the 2012/2013 Stren Team Series, National Championship, Presented by Pflueger, which will be held May 16th, 17th, and 18th on Clarks Hill Reservoir in Columbia County Georgia, where the first place prize will be a 2013 Skeeter FX-21 powered by the strong running Yamaha 250/SHO and the second place prize, a Skeeter ZX190 powered by a Yamaha 150, or cash prizes.
