A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE OUTSIDE IN GODS GREAT CREATION

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held its second tournament of 2010 on Lake Eufaula in Eufaula, AL. We combined forces with Georgia South and Parkview Baptist Church was willing to host all of us. They fed us a great meal of spaghetti and meat balls, salad, bread and strawberry shortcake for desert. As usual brother Glenn Brock and his church members outdid themselves. It was a great meal and they are always a fantastic host. Thank you so much for hosting us again this year. We had at least 160 people present at the Friday night meeting and there may have even been more than that there. Jason Robertson was our speaker and if you haven’t heard of him don’t feel bad. I had not either, but let me tell you, he has testimony that needs to be heard. Many of you are like me and grew up with the Vietnam War. I have several friends who gave their life over there protecting the people in South Vietnam and have many friends who served over there. Jason lived in an orphanage. There were over 200 children there and none had a birth certificate. A lady that was over there decided these children needed to be gotten out of Vietnam before they were killed. She was able to get blank birth certificates and filled them in with names and dates of birth, even though no one knew when any of these children were born. When she finally got them to America they were all adopted in a very short time. Jason was one of the children. He was maybe 6 months old. As Jason grew up in his adopted family home he was living here in Alabama. As he learned about our God, he would from time to time question how a Loving God could cause some of the things to happen that did. In the end, he came to realize just how blessed we all are to be living here in America and just how loving our Lord and Savior is. Thank you Jason for sharing your story with us. Jason has a book, A Love Beyond Explaining, an orphans journey from rice to grits. Check it out, I am sure you will be glad you did. We had no first time decisions that night, but we did have one rededication.
As with anytime you do something for the first time you are going to have a few problems, but all in all I think we had a great tournament and everything went very smoothly. There were a tremendous number of boats on the water Saturday and as always that is going to create some problems.
Alabama South weighed in 118 fish that weighed a total of 306.42 Lbs. Out of the 30 boats we had fishing there were 18 limits weighed in.
Congratulations to the team of Keith Carson and John Cox. They are a Florida Central team that came up to fish with us and they took first place with 5 fish that weighed in at 20.35 Lbs. They also had the first big fish that weighed 6.86 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Caleb and Danny Hutchinson. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 19.23 Lbs. to take second place. Congratulations to the team of Larry and David Foshee. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 16.47 Lbs. to take third place. They also had the second big fish that weighed 6.22 Lbs. Congratulations to Sammy Garrett and Dale Rogers. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 16.29 Lbs. to take fourth place. Congratulations to James Blanton and Michael James. Michael fished solo this tournament and managed to bring 5 fish in that weighed 15.04 Lbs. to take fifth place. Congratulations to Stephen McCord and Steve Strickland. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 15.01 to take sixth place. This was only the second time that Alabama South has paid 6 places and was the first time to have a Triton Gold Winner. Congratulations to John Cox and Keith Carson for being a Trion Gold member and their additional winnings that will be paid out by Triton Boats.
Alabama South will be hosting its first Legacy tournament of 2010 this weekend in Camden, AL on Millers Ferry. We will be launching out of Ellis Landing Saturday Morning. The Friday night meeting will be hosted by Camden United Methodist Church. The meeting will start at 6:00PM and we will do our best to have everyone out of there by or before 8:00PM
The next team trail event will also be in Camden and will be hosted by Camden Baptist Church. That tournament will be April 17, 2010. Remember to have your entries postmarked by the Friday before in order to avoid the $ 25.00 late fee.
