The Lord presented a Beautiful day for our tournament morning; calm, cool, but quite humid and foggy giving the hint that weather changes may be on the way.
With nature just waking up, our opening prayer on the water has always been a special moment for me on tournament day. We have a gracious Lord.
Our Friday night meeting was hosted at Crest Baptist church, where we once again can thank Farmland foods for the donations of meat for our meal. We chowed down on grilled burgers, chips, salads and home cooked cookies thanks to Pastor Chuck.
After our meal Pastor Chuck related a childhood fishing story he holds dear, of catching some ones line while fishing on vacation, and finding a trout on one end and a Rod & Reel on the other. Nice catch! He then delivered the message taken from Romans 8:31 ….If God is for us, who can be against us?
Once again we found the catching of fish on 12 Mile to be the easy part, finding 15” keepers was the challenge. Only half of our field found enough keepers to bring in limits, while the other teams found only a few keepers if any. All teams were kept busy catching numbers of fish, keeping them busy the entire tournament. Sore arms and stories containing “…. I’m sure this one is big enough, it has to be … short by an 1/8…”, were on most of the contestants lips.
Derick and Jon Dunton found a few bigger fish to push their winning limit of 5 fish to 14.20#. Chris Calkins and Brodie Coughenour followed closely behind taking 2nd place with 13.03# and the Big Bass weighing 5.34#. Pastor Gary Goodwin and Dan Burkhardt brought in 2nd Big Bass and 12.53# to take 3rd place. One other 5 fish limit was presented by Chris Jewett and Tom Reding weighing 12.08#.
With weigh-in completed and prizes awarded we notice the skies darkening with a welcome storm closing in. We’ve been VERY short on rain the last few months and we were all glad to rush the packing process so as not to get wet. Yet another blessing from God!
