Once again we were hosted by the fine folks at Crest Baptist church in Creston, special thanks for all the help we have received this year from Pastor Chuck and his staff.
Pastor Gary, Iowa chaplain, presented us with a story of salvation, highlighting his recent meeting with Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis. (No Gary is not having visions or stretching the truth … they were both impersonators in a show that his wife gave him tickets for their anniversary … by the way Gary, Happy Anniversary!)
Gary continued and presented a message about “Walking in the Light with Jesus”, confusion will rule your life in the darkness, come to Jesus and give your life clarity. And from the book of Titus, remind the flock to be subject to the laws of your country/community, be gentle to your fellow men. We all should follow the guidance of God’s kindness and Mercy that will save all believers.
Tournament morning brought cooler temps and a Southern breeze hinting that once again we would see the near 100 deg. temps we have been seeing now for several weeks. Our drought conditions continue. Water temps are unusually high for this early in the summer at 86 deg. With these tough summer time conditions all fishermen were still able to find at least one keeper to bring to weigh in, with our top 3 finishers only bringing in 4 fish, one short of a limit.
Local favorite and an prior FOM fishermen and friends Harry Thompson and Clint Anderson brought in the top weight of 13.93# to take 1st place, followed by Paris Humm and Jeremy Langer taking 2nd with 10.28# and Dan Radebaugh and Dean Matuszewski taking 3rd place with 10.23#. Big bass was brought in by the team of Pastor Gary Goodwin and Dan Burkhardt, with Gary giving us a detailed report of how skillfully he utilized a practiced netting maneuver to land the 5.14# big fish of the tournament.
