The NC Piedmont Division of the Fishers Of Men National Tournament Trail tested the stingy waters of Lake Norman on April 21, 2012 and along with the anglers, all the weather elements were in attendance, too!

The night before the tournament, the anglers were hosted by Peninsula Baptist Church and treated to a great meal, sponsored by Flow Motors. The challenge from the pulpit was to be a Peter…to have the faith to step out in the storms and have the courage to call out to Jesus when you lose your footing.

On Saturday morning, the post frontal conditions left a little rain in the area and as the day progressed, the sun and wind joined the party, too. 30 teams headed out and a lot of fish were brought back to the scales!

When all was tallied, all of the teams had bass to weigh in with 26 of the teams bringing limits to the scales.

Topping the standings was the male/female team of Wes Lewis and Kelli Tremblay with a total of 9.23 pounds, taking a check of $1,108. This may be the first time a male/female team won in this division…more on that as we check!

In second place with 9.16 pounds was the team of Kenny Seagle and Drew Montgomery and earning $816 for their effort. They also brought the heaviest bass to the scales, tipping them at 3.47 pounds.

Third place, and $404, went to the team of Dave Snyder and Byron Odaniel with a total weight of 9.06 pounds. The team of Stephen Singleton and A.L. Needham took fourth place and a check of $508 by bringing 9.00 pounds even to the scales.

In fifth place and winning $270 was the Adult/Junior team of Joshuah Hamilton and Shane Ledbetter with a limit weighing 8.95 pounds. Sixth place went to the team of Bo Russell and Gary Freeze Jr with 8.27 pounds and in seventh place, winning $216, was the team of Dean Collins and Ray Furr with a bag weighing 8.21 pounds.

As mentioned before, 26 limits were weighed in and a total of 143 bass brought to the scales giving a total of 203.71 pounds of Lake Norman bass!
