Missouri Ozarks Fishers of Men Pomme De Terre, July 14, 2012 Results
The Friday night meeting was held at the Clearlight Inn in Carsons Corner. A great fried chicken dinner was furnished by Jamie and John Ulbrich. A birthday party was also held for John Ulbrich, who turned 9 that day. John was treated to a hearty rendition of "Happy Birthday to you.." by those present.
The teams took off on an already hot Saturday morning from the Hermitage State Park ramp. After suffering through 100 degree plus temperatures, all teams weighed in fish. The team of Kevin and Bryan Jackson came out on top with 5 fish weighing 14.02 pounds, topped by the Big Bass of the day - 4.14 pounds. The big fish was caught on a chartreuse/black back RC 1.5. The others came on a 9 1/2 inch Plum Ringer worm. They also captured first and Big Bass in the open tournament. Their efforts earned them nearly $900.00 for the day.
They were chased by the team of Garon Smith and Greg Johnson who had a limit weighing 9.86 pounds.
The team of Scott Burk and AJ Meyer finished third with
8.13 pounds. They also caught the second Big Bass of the day, a 2.43 pounder, on a Black and Blue Jig.
The team of Jeff Wilkins and Aaron Foglesong hauled in the $60.00 junk fish prize with a .43 pound drum.
The Jacksons win tightened up the Championships points race. They now trail the team of Garon Smith and Greg Johnson by only one point with one event remaining. Besides a free pass to the National Championship, more is at stake. The team finishing second in the points will pick the lake we fish twice during the 2013 season.
The next event is August 11th. at Mark Twain. It should prove interesting as teams compete for the right to name the lakes we'll fish next season.
