Raccoon Results: Jun 16, 2012
The third tournament of the season was held at Raccoon Lake in Rockville Indiana on June 16. The Friday night meeting was held in the Hilltop shelter house with Tony Goff and Ronnie True manning the grill. Steve Neil brought his famous dirt pudding and there was some killer potato salad that was brought by a new member. I apologize for not knowing his name but I know who he is and I am going to be placing my order for some more. It was a night of special guests as Bobby Eads, VP of FOM, was present and our old friend Pastor Joe Huff came back to deliver the message. For those of us old timers it was great to see Bobby and hear another message from Pastor Joe; brought back a lot of good memories from the good memories from the good old days. Boat number 1 raffle money went to a very special, yet sad cause. Mara Lee Evans, wife of Ron Evans who owns Cap’ N Hook Baits, passed away this past week. They have been faithful sponsors of FOM and we wanted to do something to give back to the family. Our hearts and prayers are with Ron and the family. On a more positive note another sponsor, Red Dirt Bait Co., donated a tackle pack that we could use for a raffle to raise additional funds for the division and the ministry. They will be doing this for the remaining tournaments so bring a little extra cash to help support the division and win some of the best wire baits on the market.
With the lack of rain, the Lake was down at least 10 feet and a lot of the coves where boats either fish or anchor to relax had little to no water, so we all knew it was going to be very busy sharing the main lake. The 18 teams took off a little after 6 am to see if they could get their fish before the army of pleasure boaters and jet skiers took over. At 3 pm when it was all over the team of Russ Dorsey and Jeff Hackler bested the field with a 5 fish limit weighing 15.72 lbs. They also had a 4.21 fish that was good enough for 2nd big bass. The team of Trey Green and Jerad Schwedler (I now have the name of the potato salad king!) brought in 5 fish that tipped the scales at 14.61 lbs to claim 2nd place. The ever popular team of Charlie Monds and Steve Estridge grabbed 3rd place with 5 fish that went 12.71 lbs. Cooks Ronnie True and Tony Goff had 5 fish that went 12.11 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Jeff Dullaghan and Chris Ulrich who had 4 fish that went 10.30 lbs. Big Bass honors went to the team of Larry Cassagne and Tom Hendricks with a 4.32 lb fish.
Our next tournament will be on Lake Schafer on July 14. See you all there. Have a wonderful 4th of July celebrating our countries birth.
