Saturday morning the Fishers of Men gang awoke to clear skies and warm breeze blowing across the lake. Just before a beautiful East Tennessee sunrise Rod Garrett delivered a powerful message about are you prepared. We spend countless hours preparing for a tournament but are you prepared for heaven?
The father and son team of Chris and Mason Sexton win back to back tournaments on Fort Loudoun! This team said they ran up the Tennessee River to catch their fish. Chris report flipping a jig into trees in the back of creeks to catch the winning bag of fish. Chris stated they probably caught 10 keepers during the shortened day of fishing.
Second place went to Pastor Ronny Jones and Bailey Fain who came back with 3 fish hitting the scales at 7.13 pounds. Bailey reported running their Mercury all over the mid-section of the lake to catch their fish. This talented team caught fish flipping docks. With this second-place this team won the point championship for the year. Great job guys!!
Third place went to the husband and wife team of Robert and Rebecca Satterfield. This joyful team came to the scales with 3 fish weighing in at 6.17 pounds. To anchor this impressive catch the team had a beautiful smallmouth bass weighing 3.42 pounds. This happy couple reported running their Mercury powered boat to the lower end of Tellico Lake to catch their fish from the outside bends of creek channels. Robert said he was dragging a big worm and Rebecca was using a Ned Rig to catch bass all morning long.
Lunker of the tournament went to the John Long and Karen Taylor. This North Carolina team had a largemouth bass weighing in at 3.55 pounds. Karen reported she caught the largemouth off rip rap bank using a jerk bait.
