Stop four sees Straber and Robbins take the Barbee Chain

Stop number four of the Indiana North Division seen four teams launch out on Kuhn Lake to fish the Barbee Lake Chain made up of seven lakes totaling approximately 850 acres of water. A battle for the top spot in points is drawing near as only one tournament remains after this event.

Before fishing could be conducted, the Friday night’s meeting was held at the Warsaw Lodging hotel where some of the teams stayed the evening. Tournament director Shawn Hamrick shared a personal testimony of his wife being healed and shared the scripture of Psalms 147:3; He renews our hopes and heals our bodies (CEV) to go along with the testimony.

Three of the teams came in battling for the number one spot held by Austin and Darlynn Graber by just one point over Garrick Straber and Mikael Robbins. Spouses Cal Clouser and Laramie Clouser have some ground to make up being four points behind the leaders. The fourth team in points, John DeVries and Wayne Macklin are coming in one tournament behind but locking in a regional spot after today’s event.

Saturday morning started out as a damp 70 degrees as rain moved in the day before hampering some of the teams finding a good bite during Friday’s Practice. The day stay mostly overcast helping the bite but late in the day the clouds rolled out and the bite turned off.

Long time North Division member Gary Straber came in to sub with Mikael Robbins as his son Garrick served guard duty responsibilities over the weekend and couldn’t make the event. Having Gary sub paid off earning the team a much needed victory winning the event with five fish weighing 9.91 pounds. The team of DeVries and Macklin coming in second with five fish and 5.96 pounds causing the Graber’s to drop to second place in overall points. Austin Graber did walk away with another Big Bass honor but this time he had to share the honors with Gary Straber who also brought in a 2.45 pound largemouth.  The Clouser’s finished fourth and fell out of contention to win overall points.

The Indiana North Division will hold its final event on the Dallas Lake Chain in Wolcottville on August 7^th.
