The North Carolina East Fishers of Men Fenwick Local Legends Weeknight Series held final tournament of the 2026 season on Pasquotank River, Friday, August 21, 2026. The weather was overcast with the threat of storms at some point during the evening. Unfortunately a thunder storm rolled through around 5:30pm with heavy rain with thunder and lightning which cut into our fishing time. The storms brought some windy conditions as well.  Eight teams participated in the tournament and all the teams attended the pre-tournament meeting.

Chaplin Kenneth Wallace shared Mark 4:36, where Jesus calmed the storm and shared that's "other boats were with them". This lets us know that we are not alone in the storms of life and the storms we go through affect others as well. And the most important part of the storm is how, as Christians, we react to them and what others see in us, as we do. Sometimes God allows storms in our lives to show the power of Jesus to others we don't even realize. And we always need to remember that Jesus is never surprised by the storms, because He knows what's coming and has already overcome it, and with Him you can too.

After reviewing the rules highlights, our fishermen set out on the Pasquotank River in search of the winning catch. The fishermen found the bite to be challenging because of the weather however someone always figures how to catch em.  There were 26 fish weighed for a total 57.5 pounds. 26 fish were released back into the water for 100% release. The average number of fish per team was 3, average weight per team 7.19 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.21 pounds.

When the teams came to the scale, Gary Sawyer and Eric Ball brought five fish to the scales that weighed 19.20 pounds for First Place with a nice 6.81 pound fish that was the Real Tree Big Fish for the tournament. He took home $225.00 dollars for first place and $40.00 dollars for the Big Fish.  Second Place went to the team of Darren Saunders and Jason Smith with a five fish limit that weighed 11.55 pounds. They took home $55.00 dollars for Second Place. Third Place went to Justin Chamblee and Josh Powell with a five fish limit that weighed 9.41 pounds. There were only two place paid due to the number of boats entered in the tournament.

We would like to congratulate Justin Chamblee and Josh Powell for being our 2026 Points Champions for this season with 1598 points and 110.07 pounds of fish weighed for the year.

We would like to thank all those who helped with making this tournament a success, especially Kenneth Wallace, Gary Sawyer, Eric Ball, and Isaiah Seigh and Josh Powell as well as all our fishermen who helped with set-up and take down of the scales and equipment.   We also would like to thank all the Fishers of Men sponsors; Falcon Boats, Mercury, RealTree Fishing, Power Pole, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, TH Marine, E3 Apparel and Frogg Toggs. We are very appreciative for their support!
