Congratulations to CJ Johnston and Matt Stanley for a repeat win on Badin with 17.88 pounds and to take the 2017 Points Champions Title.

The season definitely flew by this year.  We started on Badin and finished on Badin.  I think the guys enjoyed another year of Yadkin river lake events.

We were blessed to head back to North Albemarle Baptist Church for the Friday night banquet.  Curtis Cox and friends hosted the event for us.  A special shout out to Brett Chappell for cooking up some great barbeque for us.  Curtis shared his testimony with us through several life-threatening experiences that he encountered from being shot at to having major heart issues.  But through it all God was using these circumstances to get him on the right track.  Thanks to everyone at NABC for a great evening.

The weather was definitely warmer than when we were here back in February.  We ended up switching ramps over to Alcoa to avoid a busy ramp, but didn’t realize there was a triathlon and a kayak tournament going out of there.  Fortunately, those events didn’t cause too much chaos.

Our First-Place Winners of CJ Johnston and Matt Stanley ended up with 17.88 and earned just under $2,500 that included the points championship pot.  This team was just shy of a 100-pound season and also earned the highest payouts of any NC Piedmont season.  In Second Place was Ron Murphy & Mike Marion with 17.59 pounds earning $896.  Rounding out the top 3 was Steve Singleton & AL Needham with 16.40 pounds and a check for $673.  The big fish of 5.70 pounds was caught by Ron Murphy & Mike Marion.  From what I could squeeze out of these guys many of the fish were caught up shallow and on top water baits.

Don’t forget if you fished in 3 of our division events and finished in the top 80% (37 boats qualify) of the YTD points standings you qualify to fish in the District Championship on Falls Lake in October!  If you have fished in 5 Team Series events you qualify to fish in any of the 11 district events where you can qualify for the National Championship that will be on Guntersville in April 2018.
