A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE OUTDOORS IN GODS GREAT CREATION

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held their 2nd team event on March 18, 2017 with the Friday night meeting being held the night before March 17, 2017.  Not having a place to host us on this night we rented the pavilion at Claiborne Lake.  We brought 3 different kinds of lunch meat, lettuce, tomato and onions to put on the buns for sub sandwiches.  We also had chips and Georgia cornbread and brownies.  Tea was the drink for the night.  All 14 teams were represented at the meeting on Friday night.

While reading my bible earlier in the week I had a verse to speak to me, so I spoke at the meeting on Friday night.  The verse comes from Matthew 13, verse 47-50.  These verses actually apply to our normal life as well as fishing.  When we have a tournament or get to fish in a tournament our goal is to catch a limit of fish and hopefully cull some of the fish during the day so that our limit is better than it started out.  In the end times, God will be sorting through the people much like fish in a net.  The good will be saved and taken to heaven to be with him.  The rest will be culled and cast into the furnace of fire and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. The question at the end of the day is what will we be:  A KEEPER OR A CULL?

At the end of the day there were 50 fish brought to the scales and 50 fish released that weighed in at a total of 84.79 lbs.  Congratulations to the team of Clay Morris and Brock Fendley.  They brought in 5 fish that weighed 12.77 lbs. to take first place.  They also had a toad of a spotted bass that weighed in at 4.50 lbs. to take big fish as well.  They had been on these fish before the water rose and now it had gone back down and the numbers were good, but the size was not as good as it had been.  They caught their fish on White spinnerbaits and plastics.  The fish were shallow on a current break.  Congratulations to the team of Mike Barnett and Jimmy Simmons.  They brought in 5 fish that weighed in at 10.64 lbs. to take 2nd place.  They too caught their fish on White spinnerbaits and plastics.  Their fish were fairly deep.

Our next team tournament will be in Camden on April 22, 2017 at Ellis Landing.  The Friday night meeting will be held at Camden Baptist Church.

If you are looking for a different kind of Bass tournament trail come and check us out.  You will be glad you did.
