ANOTHER BLESSED DAY TO BE OUTDOORS WITH GOD’S LITTLE CHILDREN

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held their second and last Legacy Tournament on May 6, 2017 in Camden, Alabama.  The Friday night meeting was hosted again this year by Camden United Methodist Church.  We have to mention that Mr. and Mrs Joe Little were again the ones that took care of getting everything together for the meal and as always they did another Great Job.  We had fried chicken, hash brown potatoe casserole, green beans, cole slaw and rolls.  We had tea to drink and strawberry shortcake.  It was all very good, but the strawberry shortcake, was really good.  So good some had to have two servings as well as two servings of the food.  When Mrs little does a strawberry shortcake, a serving is not just a regular serving.  It is almost a meal in itself.  At the end of the night I don’t think anyone went home hungry.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs Joe Little for your dedication and willingness to host us each year that you have.

Brother Brian Dovey the pastor at Camden United Methodist church spoke to us Friday night from several different chapters of the bible.  He started in Luke and went to Revelation, Acts and then to Colossians.  He gave us an acronym for PRAY.  P is for Praise.  R is for Repent.  A is for Ask.  Y is for Yield.  We have to pray if we are going to stay in touch with our Lord and we have to be patient and listen as well for when he answers us.  In praying we have to Praise him for all he has done for us as well as when he is going to do.  We have to Repent of our sins if we are going to be able to follow him and do the things he would have us to do.  We have to Ask him for his forgiveness of the sins we have committed as well as our shortcomings as we have all sinned and then only person who never sinned is Jesus and he gave his life on the cross in order to take away our sins.  Lastly we have to Yield to the things he would have us to do and to be.  He has never made a mistake and never will.  If he ask us to do something, no matter how much out of our comfort zone it is we need to make every attempt to accomplish it.  We will be glad we did.  Thank you Brother Brian for giving us the information we need to keep in mind daily as we attempt to walk the way our Lord would have us to.  We had 22 at the meeting Friday night.  We did not have any first time professions, but had one rededication.  We had 7 boats fishing the tournament with 5 of the team represented at the meeting on Friday night.

Saturday morning we woke up to some cool air with a little breeze that picked up as the day went on.  The temperatures did rise, but didn’t get as hot as it could have been.  At the end of the day there were 31 fish brought to the scales that weighed in at a total of 41.89 lbs.  Congratulations to the team of Lavon White and Triston Upton.  They brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed in at 10.21 lbs. to take first place.  They caught their fish on Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, spot sticker, texas rig in 3 to 6 feet of water.  They stayed fairly close to the landing.  They also had the big fish of the day that weighed in at 2.51 lbs.  Congratulations to the team of Zac White and Wyatt Booth.  The brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed in at 7.01 lbs. to take second place.  They caught their fish on spot sticker, crankbaits.  Their fish came close to the landing as well.  Their fish were in 2 feet to 8 feet of water.

We would like to recognize one of the fisherman that fished Saturday.  He also fishes the team trail.  He brought a new rod and reel and 2 other new rods to be given away to 3 of the children that were fishing on Saturday.  Thank You so much Steve Pierce of Pierce Electrical and Plumbing.  The kids really enjoyed their new rods and rod and reel.

If you have fished at least one of the Legacy tournaments you are qualified to fish the Legacy National Championship on Lake Wheeler on August 4, 5, 2017.  They will be taking entries for that tournament shortly.  If you are interested in fishing the Championship you need to be making your plans to go now.  Information is on the National Web Site for this tournament and they are taking entries now.

Our next tournament will be a team tournament that will be fished out of Swift Creek close to Autagaville, AL.  It is about 25 minutes outside of Prattville.  We are still working on the location for the meeting and will send out an e-mail as well as post it onto the National web site when we have it finished.  If you are mailing the entry you need to have it postmarked by Friday May 18, 2017.  I need to know by Monday May 22, 2017 if you are coming so that we can give the numbers to the church that is hosting us for the meal.  The next tournament after that will be the final tournament of 2017 for the team trail and will be fished in Demopolis on June 10, 2017.  At the moment it looks like that meeting will be held at the large pavilion at Demopolis City landing.  We had a meeting there a couple of years ago.  At the end of the day there the 2017 Points Champions will be announced as well as the top 10 who will be qualified to fish the 2017 Fishers of Men State of Alabama Championship tournament that will be fished in Camden, Alabama out of Roland Cooper on September 23, 2017 with the Friday night meeting being held at Camden Baptist church on September 22, 2017.
