Rod Garret and Paul Rogers win big on Watts Bar
Fishers of Men started again this year at Midway Baptist Church in Kingston Tennessee which happens to be the church where Rod Garrett is the pastor. The church family provides large amount of great tasting food for us to eat. And just like last year Rod let Ronny Jones bring the message. And a great message he did bring because we had two rededications at this service.
First place went to the team of Rod Garrett and Paul Rogers, who came to the scales with 26.66 pounds of bass. Their huge bag of fish included the lunker of the tournament a massive 7.78 pound largemouth bass and a smallmouth over 4.5 pounds. Rod and Paul reported catching over 30 fish over three pounds. This seasoned team pitched a jig on main lake rocky banks to catch their winning bag of fish. This team is sponsored by PJ Custom Rods
Second place went to Ben Boggs and Rick Johnson who came to the scales with 16.99 pounds of bass. Ben reported running his Yamaha powered Skeeter all over Watts Bar Lake to catch there fish. Ben and Rick used the legendary Viper Rig to catch there fish on. The Viper Rig is the bait used to catch the state record largemouth and is made by Michael Smith and Brian Jordan.
3rd place went to the father son team of Chris and Mason Sexton. This smiling team came to the scales with 16.66 pounds of bass. Chris stated that Mason and he fished up in the river. This team used a jig to catch their fish.
4th place went to the male / female team of John Long and Karen Taylor from Cherokee North Carolina 15.18 pounds. John reported fishing boat docks in the back of pockets to catch over 30 fish on a trick worm. John and Karen are sponsored by Cherokee Bottle Water.
5th place went to Jason Holder and Nathan Crisp who came to the scales with a limit weighing in at 12.92 pounds this team ran all the way to Watts Bar Dam to catch their fish. Nathan reported that they fished deep using a 3 inch Gulp minnow.
The White Pine Marine Lucky Dog award, which means they were one place out of the money, and that White Pine Marine, will pay their entry fee on next month’s tournament on Cherokee Lake, went to one of our great sponsors Bill Freeman and his new partner George Galyon who came to the scales with a limit of bass weighing 12.06 pounds. This talented team ran to the lower end of the Watts Bar to catch their fish on a spinnerbait, Carolina rig and a jig.
