Pilkenton and Bunch win Cherokee.

Fishers of Men second tournament meeting was held at First Baptist Church Dandridge.  The men’s group is the ones that do all the cooking and everything else for this event and they do an awesome job.  Later after everyone was full, the pastor Dr. Justin Terrell delivered a great message where two men rededicated their lives to the Lord!
First place went to the new team of Gary Pilkenton and Clifford Bunch, who came to the scales with 16.36 pounds of bass.    Gary reported catching their fish on a crankbait and a grub.  They ran to the upper section of the lake to catch their fish.
Second place went to Ben Boggs and Rick Johnson who came to the scales with 16.12 pounds of bass.   Their mixed bag of largemouth and smallmouth also included the lunker of the tournament a fat 4.88 pound largemouth.  Ben and Rick used a swimbait to catch there fish.  Ben reported they looked for the shad spawn as they made their way around the mid-section of the lake.  Ben and Rick finished second in the season’s opening tournament on Watts Bar so with two second place finishes they are in the lead for the point championship this year!!
3rd place went to J.C. Loveday and Kenny Sextons son-in-law Bill Hubbard.  This make shift team put together a nice limit weighing in at 16.09 pounds of mean Cherokee smallmouth bass.  JC reported that they ran their Mercury powered Nitro all around the lower end of the lake to catch their fish on soft plastic.  They had a limit by 8 AM.  This team is sponsored by White Pine Marine.
4th place went to the father and son team of Brian and Brian Leach who came to the scales with 5 fish weighing in at 14.24 pounds.  Brian reported fishing the lower end of the lake focusing on rocks on points and in pockets.  They used the top-water bait they received in their door prize drawing bag at the Friday Night meeting.
5th place went to the team of Chester Wooten and Timothy Vandover who had five fish weighing in at 14.22 pounds.  These happy fishermen who travel from Kentucky to fish the trail reported catching their fish on the lower end of the where there was gravel.  This team is sponsored by Southeast Apparatus and C&E Outdoors.
The White Pine Marine Lucky Dog award, which means they were one place out of the money, and that White Pine Marine, will pay their entry fee on next month’s tournament on Cherokee Lake, went to Jason Holder and Nathan Crisp.
Fishers of Men of East Tennessee would like to thank their local sponsors Bill Freeman and Randy White with Ameriprise Financial. Next we need to thank White Pine Marine your local Mercury Dealership. Thanks also go out to Chester Wooten of C&S Lures, and last but not least Jim Walker with Tennessee Overhead Door.
