North Carolina East Division of the FOM Team Series completed the second schedule tournament of 2017 this past Saturday on the Chowan River.  Thirty-Five boat launched from Bayside Marina on Pembroke Creek.  Those teams leaving the confines of Pembroke Creek and Edenton Bay was greeted with a very choppy Albemarle Sound, but that did not deter those who ventured out in search of that big sack of bass.

Our Friday night meeting was held at the First Assembly of God Church in Edenton.  The church youth directors prepared a wonderful spaghetti dinner with all the fixings. The ladies of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabeth City provided the mouthwatering deserts. Pastor Kristopher Adams brought the message, about how Thomas missed out meeting the Lord and how if we are not careful we can miss out on many opportunities to meet with the Lord and that we are called to gather together to worship him.

It is Mid-April and things are right so the bass should really be chopping and you know what/ They didn't disappoint.  The 35 teams departed at first light with a threat of rain hanging around, but that soon dissipated and partly cloudy skies was the outlook for the rest of the day. When it was all over the teams had weighed in 153 bass for a total weight of 445.68 pounds, an average team weight of 12.73 pounds. Leading the way was the team of Steve Vann and Richard Lewis.  This team drove all the way from Goldsboro to fish with us and to end up taking some good money home, to the tune of they were $1901.50. Vann and Lewis had five big bass that tipped the scales 22.52 pounds which was anchored by a nice 6.55 lunker.  Coming in second with a very impressive sac was the team of Don Porter and Todd Winslow.  Their five-bass weighed in at 20.23 pounds and by the slightest of margins (.02 ounces) had the big fish for the tournament a beautiful 6.69 bass. With big bass and second place and bonus bucks this team took home $1021.50.  Third place honors went to the team of T.E. Jones and Steve Albertson with five bass that almost made the 20 pound mark.  Their fish weighed 19.72 pounds and earned them $595.  Taking home, a check of $310 was the team of Buck and David Buchanan who brought in a nice limit of bass that weighed 18.63 pounds.  In fifth place was the team of Tommy and Bubba Banks with five bass that went 17.72 pounds and a nice check for $237.  Sixth place went to the team of Kevin Jones and Gerald Murray with a limit that checked in at 17.60 pounds worth $201.  Rounding the paying positions in seventh place was the team of David Gardner and Chris Ricks with a limit that tipped the scales at 17.32 pounds and earned them $150
