Our Friday night meeting was held at the Bethel Volenteer Fire Department.  The Fireman prepared a meal that was totally outstanding in every way, from the pork loin to the  jalapeno cornbread everything was delicious.  The ladies of the First Church of the Nazarene in Elizabeth City provided the  mouth watering deserts. Pastor Kristopher Adams brought the message, “The Family Resemblance” .  If we are a member of the family of God do we resemble his son?  Great message.   

Saturday morning broke on the first tournament for thee Fishers of Men, North Carolina East Division being held on the Yeopium River, launching from Bethel Fishing Center.  The day started off with a cold rain, an air temp of 44 degrees, and winds blowing 10 – 20 mph , 30 boats launched into some of the worst conditions to try and catch fish in.  The water temps had dropped 10 degrees during the days proceeding the tournament and water temps were running in the high 40’s  and top it off  most of  the water was muddy to stained and was exceptionally low due to the strong north winds which had blown for the past week.  But don’t you know there were several teams who where able to find some quality fish.  The team of Dustin Winslow and Sanders  Overman  brought a five fish limit that tipped the scales at 18.48 pounds.  Their catch was anchored by the tournaments big fish, a beautiful 7.56 pound largemouth.  The win  and big  fish netted them a check for $1595.00.  Second place went to the team Kevin Jones and Gerald Murray.  Their five fish weighed in at 16.55 pounds and with bonus buck they earned a check for $850.  The team of T. E. Jones and Steve Albertson  had  five bass for a weight of 15.39 pounds, for third  place and a check for $397.   11.92 pounds anchored fourth place for the team of John Banks and Steve Beals.  They received a check  with bouns buck for $440.00.  Coming in fifth with  11.43 in five fish the team Kirk Wall and Charle Reed.
