What a great end to an even greater fishing season for the 2017 Virginia West Legacy!! We set a new total boats for the year record this year with our largest number of boats from beginning to end. Thanks to each and every one of you for coming out in 2017. Well for starters, thanks so much to Mt. Ivy Christian Church and Pastor Steve and his wife Michelle for the opened arm welcome, great food, and great prize table they provided us this year. What a true blessing and I'm sure our folks all enjoyed taking home the great raffle prizes. We had 16 boats entered and saw some previous teams resurface, some older team players return with new team members, as well as a long road trip made by a team from the great state of Pennsylvania. What a blessing for this director and his staff to see new foks and have others come back!!

As for Saturday, well the forcasted 100% rain that was in our future last tuesday was replaced by our Almighty God with beautiful sunshine!!! Prayer works folks. LOL And we found out at weigh-in that some guys know how to fish when the sun shines. Congratulations to team Martin. David and Connor brought our biggest bag in a long time to the scales for the win and bragging rights with 19.37 lbs. anchored by our big fish for the day at 5.81 lbs. What a bag guys. Congratulations!! Finishing a strong 2nd for the second tournament in a row was dad JC and little angel Kaylen Mitcham. They managed 13.50 lbs and a 2nd place check. 3rd place with 11.79 lbs was our 2017 Virginia West Legacy Points Champions Ben Sohrabi and Tyler Jarrells. They had an awesome fishing season that was capped off with a 3rd place check as well as top spot in our points race. Great job on sat and congratulations on a great year guys. 4th place money went to Mark Whitman and Kameron Hall with 10.82 lbs. Kameron will not be back next year as a jr. angler because of his age, but hopes to re-join us as a boater. We look forward to that Kam. We will miss you and Mark but hope to see you both back with new partners! 5th and final payout checks went to James and Jack Carnley, with assistance in the picture by the 1st of 3 generations of Carnleys present on sat. Hiding in the pic was Mr. Jim Carnley. Great folks showing us all that Godly families stay together and Godly fishing families are the bestest!!!

Congratulations to all these folks, but also, we'd like to thank our neighbors from PA. for joining us. Darin and Michael Witherup were a blessing to meet and we'd really enjoy having them back in the future if it works out for them. Some new folks as well were Kevin Beamer joining his son Tucker and fishing their 1st tournament together. Mark Blenkenship returned with a new partner. Welcome Miss Henzlee Eaton. She was all smiles and we enjoyed meeting her and hope she can join us again next year. And finally, returning again after some years off to grow into a beautiful young lady was Miss Amaya Nixon making a comeback with Team Series Director and her dad Russ Nixon. Glad to see you again little lady. Come on back next year.

Again folks, thanks for making 2017 our biggest year ever. Let's make it even bigger in '18. Special thanks to my Legacy help staff of Travis and Jake Campbell, Keith and Donna Multerer, Donna's sister Michelle and Keith's granddaughter Meka. We appreciate your help so much. Finally, thanks to my beautiful, awesome helper God gave me in my wife Tamera (Tammy). I love you my special friend and thank you for all the help and your ideas each and every year with this ministry. We enjoy these events and hope you the anglers do as well. Spread the word and let's fill up these churches next year on Friday nights and enjoy the wonderful world of bass fishing with the Fishers of Men Legacy Series. God bless. See ya next year!! TC
