Well here we go again in 2017. What a record setting event we had this past weekend. God blessed us with a new church called Connections Church with Pastor Jody Pyles hosting us along with his awesome staff. Thanks go out to him and our speaker Brother James Wagner. A great message as well as good ol hot dogs with all the trimmings were thoroughly enjoyed. This director finally had a personal prayer answered in his 8th year. Virginia West Legacy set a new boat total record with 20 boats!! We've come close a few times, but this year it finally happened. Thanks to all who participated. It was truly heart warming as your director to see so many smiling faces in the crowd of 55 folks!!

On to Saturday. The rains and flooding that hampered our little lake all week was cleared up enough to allow us to fish, but I think some water clarity issues dictated some smaller bags than we anticipated. However, a big "welcome back" goes out to our winners on sat. that was the team of Ben Sohrabi and Tyler Jarrells. We missed seeing them last year, but they made their return quite memorable with a beautiful bag of smallmouth weighing in at 16.15 lbs. Tyler is our current Jr. angler big fish leader with a 3.70 lb. smallie. That's the number to beat going forward gang. Congratulations again to Ben & Tyler. 2nd place was another record setting moment as Team Sowers Jared/Caleb could only find 3 fish, but wow, what a monster bass Jared was able to find. His big bass weighed 6.56 lbs. and stands as the biggest bass I've weighed in in my 7+ years as director. What a fish!! They had 10.15 total for the 2nd place weight. Coming in 3rd was one of our new teams of Chris and Eli Lewis. They found a 9.53 lb limit of fish. Congrats guys! 4th place went to our defending points champs Anthony & Seth Dillon. They found 8.36 lbs. of Claytor bass. 5th place went to another new team of Dennis Burdette and Trent McBride. They had a limit of 7.17 lbs and 5th place money. Our 6th and last payout spot went to David & Conner Martin. They had 6.46 lbs. to finish out our money postions. In total we had 8 new teams of either new partners for existing boaters or totally new teams. It was a great weekend and we can't wait to see what we follow up at Philpott with. May 27 is the date.
