A new day dawned on Saturday the second day of the Fishers of Men Strike King Legacy Championship.  As the teams arrived at the ramp Saturday morning, temperatures were a little cooler and all wondered how that might affect the fishing.  Who knows?  But what we do know is there was some movement at the top.

Our 2017 Champions are Norman and Chase Ligon from Alabama Northwest who jumped from fourth place on day one to first with three fish on day two weighing 9.22 lb. and a two day total of six bass weighing 17.55 lb. They reported that all their fish were caught in 15 to 25 feet of water using crank baits and Carolina rigs. The number of fish caught was not great but the quality was. Congratulations to Chase and Norman!

 Second place went to the Alabama Northeast team of Kent and Emily Ware with 3 bass weighing 8.49 lb. and a two day total of 16.40 lb.  Using the Mayfly hatch, the Wares fished shallow and used top water and senkos to catch the fish. The team of Jim Barnette and Peyton Steele made a move from eighth to third with 8.30 lb. and a total of 15.17 lb. using the 5.05 lb. big bass to move them up. The fish was caught by the junior angler Peyton and was the largest fish caught in the event.  Fourth went to Anthony McBay and Carson Heard with a second day limit weighing 8.30 lb. and a two day total of 15.17. The Alabama Northeast team of Josh Bragg and Noah Armstrong made a big jump and brought 8.90 lb. to the scales and moved from 29th to fifth with a two day total of 13.89.

We held a random drawing for all the teams in attendance after the day two weigh-in. The $2,500.00 first place winners were Danny and Tristan Marcum. They lost their lower unit on Saturday and had to limp back into the ramp but this should help with the repairs. Other winners included Nathan and J.D. Talley $750.00, Barry Johnson and Scott Guthery $500.00, Donnie Gamble and Drew Traffanstedt $500.00 and Danny Washburn and Matthew King $250.00.
