Fishers of Men National Championship Day Two on The Red River
The weather was a lot better for day two on The Red River. It was still chilly but the wind wasn’t bad at all. The river dropped several inches over night and it made for tuff fishing for some. Our day one leaders, Bishop and Lear fell down one notch to 2nd place with 8.75 lbs. This gave them a two day total of 24.73 lbs. Moving up from 3rd place to take over the lead was Tim Carmouche & Cary Beard. They brought 13.78 lbs to the scales which gave them a two day total of 26.38 lbs. They said they went hole jumping to fill their bag and it was just pure luck. I imagine the other 100 teams would love to be as lucky as these guys! Moving from 7th to 3rd place was Mayo & Ginn. Their near identical two sacks gave them 23.12 lbs. Lavon and Zachery White came from 13th all the way to 4th for a two day total of 22.94 lbs. They have been milking one area the last two days. Rounding out the top five is Lambert & Robinson. They jumped fro 17th to 5th with a two day total of 22.89 lbs. They too have been fishing the same areas. Weighing big bass for the 2nd day in a role was Team Madison with a 5.26 toad. These guys will win $400 a day for big bass!
Today we make the cut for the Championship round for Saturday. The top 21 teams will be fishing for one of two Bass Cat rigs powered by Mercury. The 1st place team will win a 2017 Bass Cat Cougar with a 250 Mercury; valued at $57,995.00. And the 2nd place team will win a Bass Cat Margay with a 150 Mercury; valued at $32,995.00. 21st place will be awarded $1,000.00. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. If you are in the neighborhood, come by Grand Ecore Boat Ramp at 3pm to watch the weigh-in.
