The third Ohio Team Series tournament has come and gone with two more to go.

On Friday night we met at the Community Christian Fellowship Church in Prospect, Ohio. Thanks to Pastor Steve Whiticker and his church members for opening the doors of their church to us again. Pastor Steve was in Florida but he had everything ready when we arrived, and after registration we were treated to a meal of BBQ sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw, pasta salad, and dessert. Thanks to those who prepared the meal. After the meal, one of the church elders, John “the farmer” (which he wanted to be called) talked with us about his experiences as a junior high football coach and how important a relationship with Jesus is for the kids, but also for us.

After the message, we held our meeting, handed out raffle and door prizes. At 8:00 we finished up and sent everyone home and to their motels to get ready for Saturday morning boat check.

Saturday morning boat check brought light rain shower, and at sunrise 26 boats were launched. Delaware is a lake that is known for numbers along with a lot of short fish and as the weigh in began, the word was of catching a lot of fish, reaching a limit, and returning the short ones to the lake.

Our winners were Kenneth Watson and Paul Yohey who brought a five fish limit to the scales weighing 11.36 lbs. Good job men!  Second went to the team of Jeff Kauble and Thomas Lothes with a limit weighing 10.77 lbs. Jeff and Thomas also had the tournament’s big bass weighing 5.31 lbs. In third was the male/female team, Ashley and B.J. Baxter, with five bass weighing 9.52 lbs. Two teams tied for fourth with limits weighing 8.93 lbs. The male/female team of Cherie and John Dawson and the team of John Litchfield and Dan Nash shared the fourth and fifth place honors.

There were 16 five fish limits weighed in. A total of 108 fish were brought to the scales.

Our next event will be June 30 at Lake Erie.
