Hello folks,

  Our first actual VA east Legacy tournament is in the books. We started off with our meeting located in the club house of Hope Springs Marina. Our meeting opened up at 5:30 P.M... As teams were arriving off the water and from work. They were greeted and provided a meal of Pizza, sausage, pepperoni, and cheese along with wings and house salad.  We were able to partner with Sam's Pizza in Stafford. They had the food ready as promised by 4:30 Friday evening. We picked the food up and set the meeting room up.

The anglers had a tough day on Friday pre-fishing as the wind was up and water temps were still low. Temps are forecasted to raise for Saturdays tournament. The anglers shared some fellowship while dinner was served and registration and raffle tickets were sold.  Curtis welcomed everyone to our first tournament on the Potomac. Marshall Johnson provided our post meal blessing, Thanks were given to Carol and Hope Springs Marina for hosting us again this year. We collected boat ramp passes on Friday night and turned over to the marina Saturday morning.  The marina graciously donated back to our trail half of the ramp fee which helped to pay for our meal.  Hats off to them for their donation.

There were approximately 35 folks which attended the Friday night meeting. Our guest speaker for the meeting was our own James Whitman from Team J squared on our Team series and pro-staff for J.B.Cutom rods, our exclusive rod sponsor.  Mr. Whitman delivered a powerful message of raising and teaching our kids about God and Faith and provided some suggestions and examples .  Mr. Whitman also provided some fishing tips for fishing the Potomac in the spring.  His message was well received, simple and understandable.  Hats off to our friend and mentor for bringing this message to us.

At that time, we passed out our response cards and our chaplain, Daniel Roberts, started us off with a couple of verses of Amazing Grace while sharing an invitation to our Lord.

We received two first time confessions of faith and six rededication to Christ.

We then raffled off our gifts and the grand prize of a J.B.Custom Rod Stinger Series Carolina Rig which went to Bryce Lunde of Team Lunde . Congrats Bryce on your new rod.

Boat numbers were drawn and Chaplain Daniel led us in a closing prayer.

Saturday morning we met at the ramp to find three other adult clubs were launching for a TX also.  Two of which were unscheduled with the marina. We started boat checks at 5:30 and after dealing with the congestion at the ramp and getting all our anglers parked in a tight area.  We taxied out to the no-wake zone and waited for a couple of the other clubs to release. Dealing with a train Marshall Johnson lead us in a morning prayer and we released 13 boats to fish till a 1:00 weigh in. Temperature was chilly in the morning around 35 * at the time of blast off.  The temperature outside raised throughout the day but the fishing was tough. We did not have a team bring a full bag of 5 fish to the scales. Two fish won the TX with a weight of 6.24 Lbs. . . .  Congrats to team Kevin Beasley and Timothy Sheridan on your win.  Big fish was 4.58 Congrats to team Jeremy Cash and Gunnar Cash which landed him 3rd place.  Second place went to Team Estes , Keith and Landry, with a catch of two fish 4, 70. Fourth place went to team Roberts,  Steve and Stella , with a catch of one fish 3.49.  Congrats to all of our teams who competed.  Also  Aidan Hanzlik holds the current youth Big Fish weighing in at 2.55.  This is one of our divisional incentives. Youth Big Fish which runs for the whole season.
