2018 Midwest Region - District 10 Championship

First we would like to thank our host, The Village of Antioch, Visit Lake County and Skipper Bud’s for making us feel so welcome and providing us with a great facility and meal.

The Thursday evening pre-tournament meeting was held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Gurnee Illinois. Teams from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio gathered for food, fellowship, inspiration, and tournament instructions. A great buffet was provided which included a cake with the Fishers of Men loga on top and ice cream for desert. After the meal the fisherman heard an encouraging message to share their faith story with others.

With expectations that fishing conditions may be tough, the Anglers arrived for the 5:30 a.m. boat check on Friday morning. The launch was held under cool and calm conditions with a light fog covering the lake. Boats were launched at safe light in hopes of catching a large bag of fish by weigh in. At 3:00, boats returned to the ramp and started bringing their catch to the scales.

The Indiana South team of Tim Maupin and Chris Burke brought a limit of fish to the scales weighing 12.42 lbs and took the day one lead. John Santos and Matt McClannahan from Indiana South weighed in four bass with a total weight of 10.83 lbs which included the day one big bass weighing 4.24 lbs. In third from Indiana South was the team of David Saltsgaver and Bill Caldwell with 1 bass weighing 3.64 lbs.   

Bill and Roxanne Kehl, from Indiana North, are male/female day one leaders with one bass weighing 2.65 lbs. The Ohio team of Justen and Ty Fain are the highest adult/junior team with two bass weighing 3.54 lbs.
