Extremely hot, but beautiful day for our first Legacy event of 2019.
Fishers of Men, Alabama South’s 1st legacy tournament at Millers Ferry was a success. Our Friday night meeting was held at Camden United Methodist Church. We had a great Friday night with 31 present at the meeting. Brother Tim Floyd started his message by reminding us of all our blessings. The Lord’s blessing of health, home, the outdoors and family just to name a few. We are surrounded daily with the Lord’s blessings. We all have great aspirations and accomplishments. He explained to us that no matter how big the accomplishment, the trophy game killed/caught, the amount of money won or the size of the home; these things will not get you to Heaven. Our greatest accomplishment is your relationship and salvations through Christ. You need to have your name written down in Heaven. This is the goal we should all strive to accomplish. Our situations and goals will change throughout our lifetime but we should always keep our eyes and heart on Christ. Bro. Time gave us several examples in scripture that tell us to keep our focus on Christ so that we may be with him in Heaven. John 3:16-17, Romans 10:13 and John 3:3. In these chapters and versus, it is explained how to get to Heaven, being born again and forgiveness. Tim encouraged us to get up when we fall (sin), to finish the race and not give up. Run it and run it well. He also told us salvation is free. You can sign up for it and it doesn’t cost a thing. He reminded us not to believe it when society tells us we have to “Keep Up with the Jones’”. You need to ask the Lord to help you and be the best Christian, brother, sister, daughter, mother, neighbor that you can be. Life goes so quickly so make sure you finish it well. Do not take life for granted and forget to ask Christ to be your savior. Be sure to ask with your heart, not just with your mouth. Live according to the word of Christ and not this world and its’ expectations.
Thank You Tim for the words of encouragement and reminding us that we all need to rely on the Lords trust and righteous path. At the end of the night we had 11 boats fishing on Saturday. We blasted the 11 boats off as soon as it was safe light. Congratulations to the Team of Zac and Zhane White weighing in 13.67 pounds to take 1st place. Second place team of Danny and Gunner Parker weighed in 10.41 lbs. Third place went to Daniel Kelley and Logan Misenar with a weight of 10.20 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was Rick Jacobs and John Luke Colvin with 9.26 lbs and Marty Long and Chris Long with 8.94 lbs. At the end of the day there were 50 bass brought to the scales and 48 released alive to be caught another day. The 50 bass weighed a total of 87.62 lbs. This was a great event for our 1st legacy tournament of the year.
