The Fishers of Men National Championship is underway from beautiful Lake Hartwell in Anderson South Carolina. 136 teams will be trying to win one of two BassCat Boats that will be given away Saturday afternoon to the top two teams.

Thanks to the Anderson Convention and Visitors Bureau hosting our National Championship and our Wednesday night pre-tournament meeting. The anglers were treated to a delicious Bar-B-Q dinner and a powerful message delivered by Pastor Jody Flowers as he talked about how with great treasures there are great responsibilities that come along with it. We need to do our part by sharing the gospel with others and not just sit around and let someone share take on the responsibility. We need to do what we are called to do.

Day one from Lake Hartwell started out calm winds and clear skies, and as the sun began to rise above the horizon the temperatures began to climb also reaching into the low 80’s with calm winds allowing the anglers a great day of fishing.
The anglers were blessed with good day of fishing as every team in competition weighed in fish today, just that some teams were able to find the bigger bite. Out of the 135 teams in competition 133 of the teams brought a five fish limit to the scales.

Day one leaders Kent and Emily Ware brought the heaviest fish limit to the scales weighing 20.97 lbs. The second place team of Mark and Zack Hicks weighed in 5 fish for a total weight of 17.84 lbs. Sammy Moody and Hank O Shields brought in 5 fish with a weight of 17.44 lbs. to round out the top three. Fourth place is the team of Bobby Root and Nick Thompson with a weight of 16.95 lbs. rounding out the top five is the team of Michael and Jon Anders with a weight of 15.71 lbs.
Big Fish for day one went to the team of Mark Scott and Ross Williams weighing in a 6.80 lb. Largemouth.
Weather conditions for day two is calling for rain and possible thunderstorms with temperatures around 60 degrees.
