Day 1 of the District 11 Championship at the Mississippi River Pool 14 is off to a good start. We launched 13 Boats out of Hank’s Boat Ramp this morning with clear skies and temps in the 50’s. However things turned around in the afternoon with warmer temps around 80, but accompanying the warm weather were high winds of 20-30 mph creating 4’ waves on the river making it a little difficult to navigate. That didn’t stop the Iowa team of Jerry Pape and Mark Moorman from catching a limit that weigh 15.55 lbs to take the Day 1 lead. Not far behind is the Indiana South team of Tim Maupin and Chris Burke with a great bag that weighed 15.06 lbs. Currently in third place is the Illinois Central and last years District 11 Champions, Brian and Lauri Lopp with 13.56 lbs. Day 1 Big Bass is the Iowa team of Thomas Redding and Michael Obal with 3.95 lb Largemouth. Out of the 13 teams 7 have 12lbs or more so tomorrow will be very interesting. Should be a great battle on the Mississippi to see who will be The Champs. The Winner of the Masterbuilt Smoker is Jerry Pape. Congratulations!
