Our second tournament of the season was on Dale Hollow lake.  We started the weekend off Friday night at Burkesville Baptist Church.  This is one of my favorite tournaments of the season but not for the fishing, but for the food.  They fixed a massive meal of pork shoulder, grilled bbq chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, and a plethora of desserts.  After dinner pastor Jonathan Howard talked to us about not being able to outrun grace, and that just because we are out of our comfort zone, that we should still talk to others about Jesus.  

Saturday morning brought cloudy skys as all 35 teams blasted off just before the storms started.  We had strong winds, lightning, and heavy rain right up until weight in.  The storms did not keep alot of our competitors from catching fish.  Coming in first place was Don Smith and Pat Eichman.  They had a five fish limit weighing 18.79lbs.  Don stated that they caught their fish on spinnerbaits.  In second place was the team of TJ Wilcher and John Stomberger with 17.78lbs.  Tj said most of their fish was caught using brush hogs.  The team of Dustin Napier and Nick Couch came in third place with a weight of 16.49lbs.  Napier told me after the tournament that all of their fish was caught using spinnerbaits and jerkbaits.  Their strategy was to cover alot of water because during practice they caught fish in the mouth, middle and head of the creeks.  Our next tournament will be on Lake Cumberland on April 17th.  This will be interesting since the points race is so tight right now.  So do not miss out on the fun, and we will see everyone in a few weeks.
