The North Carolina East Division held their fourth Team Series tournament on the Roanoke River in the Town of Plymouth NC. 18 teams launched from the Port O’ Plymouth Gazebo on the Roanoke River in search of the winning bag of fish. The weather was overcast with light winds and the threat of storms throughout the day. Temperatures were in the upper 70’s with light easterly winds. Division Director Pat Seigh provided a devotion before the launch which focused on a scripture verse coming from Ephesians 6:15 which states “And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace”. The devotion titled “One Size Fits All” mentioned a comparison between how shoes serve an important role –protecting our feet where the Apostle Paul wrote that the feet of every Christian should be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Paul was playing off the words of Isaiah 52:7 which is a description of a warrior who brings back news of a great victory in battle. Everywhere our feet take us, we are to proclaim the victory of Jesus Christ on the cross- a victory that brings us peace with God and will one day bring peace to the world.

With teams prepared to face the day and the weather, 18 teams brought 85 Bass to the scales that weighed 228.41 pounds.  The average team weight was 12.69 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.69 pounds. When the weigh-in concluded, Quinton Chappell and Chris Turner brought in an impressive five fish limit that weighed 21.77 pounds for first place, which included a nice 5.11 pound kicker fish. They received $1,166.00 dollars for their days work including $941.00 dollars for first place for the tournament and first place bonus bucks $225.00 dollars. Coming in second place was the team of Bryan Hendricks and Chris Merritt with a nice bag of fish that weighed 19.32 pounds. The five fish limit was anchored by the big fish of the tournament that weighed 6.73 pounds. They received $513.00 dollars for second place, $135.00 for second place bonus bucks and $90.00 dollars for big fish.
