Texas Central Fishers of Men kicked spring off with a BAAAANNNG of an event on Lake Stillhouse Hollow in Belton Texas this weekend. The festivities started Friday night at 3C Cowboy Fellowship in Salado Texas, this wonderful group has hosted us for three years straight and we received an open invitation to return next season. The anglers gathered for a meal prepared by the Chuckwagon Team, message from a special young man and important tournament information. The Chuckwagon Team at 3C prepared a tasty meal for all of those gathered, they always make it a point to create a welcoming atmosphere for us.

The message was given by Ty Eller, it was his first time presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to a large gathering and he did a wonderful job. Ty spoke on the dangers of becoming a “COMFORTABLE CHRISTIAN”. A message that was very well received by all of those in attendance.

We were also allowed the opportunity to speak a little about Fishers of Men on the radio program “ON THE DOCK”. Mr. Rick Smith was kind enough to allow us to speak about the history, our mission, and the division here in Central Texas. Always a pleasure to speak about this great organization.

Saturday morning was perfect as the 27 teams launch their boats into Stillhouse Hollow Lake, as safe light approached, we sent them out to battle it out for the title of Stillhouse Slayers…. And did they respond. The team of Justin Williams and Colton Hill went to work in a big way, these two brought in a limit of fish weighing 23.9lbs. The boys got after it for sure, they captured first place money as well as Bonus Bucks money.

Second place was secured by the husband / wife team, Gary, and Tina Johnson. These two know lake Stillhouse and it showed, they brought 5 fish to the scales that locked in at 22.01lbs. Gary had an 8.22lb largemouth in that sack as well. Third Place spot was taken by David Kipp and Houston Carroll, these two were able to bring in a limit weighing 20.9lbs. Fourth Place was anchored by a 8.63 giant caught by Earl Loggains. Earl and Todd Loggains claimed the fourth-place spot and Big Bass for the event. Their limit of bass weighed 20.54lbs. The Father / son team had a limit by 9am, now that is "GETTING IT DONE"!!!! The final paying spot for the event was earned by Kelly Barnett and Mike Smith, these anglers brought in a respectful bag of fish weighing 17.5lbs. Mike later told me this was an amazing day on the water, and he had the time of his life, always good to hear those kinds of reports.

Our Entry Fee payback was given to Matthew and Howard Mertink, the team was able to put a little cash in their pockets for the day’s effort.

We were blessed to have a blue sky, light wind and warm 85-degree temperatures, a rarity for FOM Texas Central Tournaments, or any tournament in Central Texas.

Mr. Jimmy Bennett was kind enough to close the event down and send us off with a wonderful prayer. Thank you, sir.
