2 New Series Coming in 2018

Fishers of Men is pleased to announce the formation of 2 exciting new Series for the 2018 season. The Abu Garcia UBC (Ultimate Bass Challenge) is patterned after the wildly successful Major League Fishing series. Available to a limited field, this exciting new Series will bring a whole new level of drama and excitement to Fishers of Men.  With only 15 slots available in each event and priority entry given based upon the Points Standings from the previous Berkely Team season, anglers will now find it more important than ever to step up their game in their local Division so that they might earn one of these coveted slots. The Abu Garcia UBC will feature its own National Championship where the eventual Champion may take home $10,000 or even more based upon participation!

The new Berkley Weeknighter  Series will give anglers in many areas a chance to get a small taste of what Fishers of Men is all about. With a super low $40 entry fee and 100% payback of paid entries at the ramp, these events are designed to expose Fishers of Men to a whole new group of anglers. These events which are tied to a Berkley Team Series Division will give anglers a chance to compete on their local body of water in a Series where anglers can get off work, come to the lake and fish in an abbreviated event. There is even the opportunity to advance to a Fishers of Men District Championship where anglers can win even bigger prizes and qualify to attend the prestigious FOM National Championship.

More details will be coming soon on both these exciting new series! Stay tuned!!!

Welcome to the new Fomntt.com!

As we transition from the old website to the new one, we expect that there will be a few glitches and "bugs" to work out. Please be patient with us while we are under construction. Once it's all completed, there will be some new features that we feel that our members will really like.

Thanks for your patience!

The 2017 Stren team Series National Championship will be held on April 6, 7, and 8 at the Grand Ecore Park boat ramp in beautiful and historic Natchitoches, Louisiana. Natchitoches (pronounced: (Nack-a-tish), is a quiet, picturesque small town on the Red River. With lots of history and plenty of attractions and restaurants to keep visitors busy and well fed. It's a favorite getaway spot for many. It's also the home of Northwestern State University. It has been made possible for Fishers of Men to bring the Stren Team Series National Championship to Natchitoches by Mayor Lee Posey, and the efforts of one of the leaders in the community, Steve Graf. They have worked very hard on bringing this event to town. The leadership team of Fishers of Men is very pleased and excited about the energy that is being put into making it a great event. The tournament field will be made up of 171 of the best teams in the Stren Team Series from all over the United States. They have all qualified for the event by either winning the points championship in their division or finishing well at one of the eleven District Championship tournaments. Only the teams listed on the tournament details page will be eligible to enter. In the event a qualifying team is unable to attend the championship, the next team in line to qualify behind them will added to the list and will be invited. All of the information for the event and entry instructions can be found in the tournament details for that tournament in the schedule on the website.

The District 1 Championship meeting location has been changed. The meeting will be held at the restaurant at the Bull Creek Fish Camp located at 3861 W CR 2006 Bunnell, FL 32110

The event will be a little different this year. Due to heavy weekend boat traffic on Lake Lanier during July, the tournament competition days will be a Thursday and Friday. The meeting will take place on the Wednesday evening prior to the competition. The safety of our junior anglers was the biggest issue in making this decision. The tournament will be a two day event on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The mandatory pre-tournament will be on the evening of Wednesday July 27. Any team who has competed in any Fishers of Men Legacy Series regular season tournament since July 25, 2015 is eligible to enter the Championship. For a complete list of the tournament details and entry instructions, go to the tournament details in the “schedules” section of the website.

The Fishers of Men National Office is very pleased to announce that the 2016 Stren Team Series National Championship will be held on Alabama’s Pickwick Lake on April 7, 8, & 9. The City of Florence Alabama will once again host FOM’s best anglers. Thanks to the efforts of Suzie Shoemaker, Allison Stanfield, and the staff at the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Commission our competitors will, once again, compete for top honors at one of the best bass fisheries in the United States. In addition to fishing in a “world class” lake, the anglers will be treated extremely well by the residents while in Florence. This is a community that loves their fishery and loves to share it with the visitors who come to compete on it. Anglers from all 38 of Fishers of Men divisions will qualify to compete in the 3 day event. All of the qualifiers will compete on day 1 and day 2. Then the top 20% will compete on day 3 for the title of Fishers of Men National Champions. The defending National Champions and the 2015 Points Champions from each division were the first to secure their berths in this event. They will be joined by the teams who have just qualified through the 2015 District Championships. At each of these events, the top 20%, the top Male/Female team, and top Adult/Junior team have qualified. In addition, the top 10 teams from the 2015 Legacy Series Championship have been invited to compete in this event. A complete list of the teams who are eligible to compete can be seen at the bottom of the page in the tournament details. Entries are now being accepted from those teams. Entry instructions are posted on the same page, just above the list of qualifiers. The details for the tournament can be found in the 2016 schedules.

In response to the recent historical flooding in South Carolina Fishers of Men Ministries has created a SC Flood Disaster Relief Fund. This fund will enable Fishers of Men working in concert with local churches such as Summerton Baptist in Summerton SC to channel resources to some of the hardest hit locations in South Carolina. Food, Water, Clothing and repairs to homes are just a few of the things that this fund will be used for. Al Odom National Director of Fishers of Men and a lifelong South Carolinian stated “Fishers of Men anglers and staff have a history of coming to the aid of those less fortunate, whether it be from the Tornadoes of Lake Guntersville a few years back, loss of a home to fire or the most recent devastation in South Carolina, Fishers of Men members have continued to live out their faith in tangible ways to assist those in need.” Once again Fishers of Men members and friends have the opportunity to give back to people in need. Thanks for helping us share the Love of Christ with those who are suffering from this disaster! In His Service,

There has been an article floating around Facebook and twitter that the lake will be drawing down 15 feet starting in September. The article is from 2014. We have also contacted Alcoa and they have assured us that there will not be a drawdown of the lake this fall. We hope to see you on High Rock or any of our other District Championships this fall.
