Nationwide Santa Bass Fishing Tournament to Support the

C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation Kicks Off November 24

CHAPIN, S.C. (November 14, 2024) – This holiday season, the Fishers of Men Tournament Trail invites anglers across the United States to participate in an online Santa Bass Fishing Tournament, a charity event supporting the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, a non-profit that brings the sport of fishing to children with special needs. The event kicks off on Black Friday, November 24th, and runs through December 15th, offering participants the chance to win big prizes while supporting a meaningful cause.

“By participating in the Santa tournament, you are sharing the joy of fishing with children with special needs and their families in 2025,” said Executive Director of C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, Jay Yelas. “A day of fishing is a gift of respite for families with children with special needs. Many of these families do not have the resources, equipment, and experience to introduce their children to the sport of fishing. By attending a C.A.S.T. for Kids event, children with special needs receive a fishing rod & reel and tackle box and learn how to fish with the help of tremendous volunteers. Families often discover that fishing is a hobby that everyone can enjoy. Your support not only helps supply children with the necessary equipment to catch the big one, but your support also helps celebrate these children by helping us host award ceremonies at every event where children receive a personalized plaque and have an opportunity to share their fishing story from the day. Thanks for helping us give the gift of fishing to many families across the nation.”

Tournament Details

With an entry fee of $30 (plus a small Fishing Chaos application registration fee), the Santa Tournament will split proceeds in a 50/50 format: half will benefit the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, and the other half will go directly into the cash payout for top participants. Anglers can fish in any public water across the United States. This unique format enables anglers to fish as many days and locations as they wish, creating ample opportunities to catch their best fish.

This CPR (Catch, Photo, Release) style tournament will be conducted through the Fishing Chaos app, which allows participants to register catches and measure fish using an approved weigh board. Cash prizes will be awarded based on the combined length of an angler’s five largest Black Bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, or Spotted Bass), with additional prizes for creative “Santa” attire or holiday-decorated boats.

Why Participate in the Santa Tournament?

This tournament offers anglers a fun and festive way to give back to the community while participating in a competitive, nationwide fishing event. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation provides children with special needs the chance to experience the joy of fishing, giving them confidence, connection, and memories to last a lifetime. Anglers joining the Santa Tournament have the opportunity to make a difference, as each entry helps fund future C.A.S.T. for Kids events across the country.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fishers of Men Tournament Trail Partners with C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation

CHAPIN, S.C. (August 21, 2024) – The Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail (FOM), is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation. This collaboration represents a significant milestone in FOM’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and support for children with special needs.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs, supporting their families, and strengthening communities through the sport of fishing. Their mission is to empower families and communities to celebrate children with special needs, ensuring these children feel loved, valued, and recognized as an important part of their community. This partnership is very important to the future of our fishing communities as both organizations are actively working to grow the sport and increase participation in fishing for generations to come.

Since its inception in 1992, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation has partnered with local volunteers to host around 100 fishing events annually across the United States. These events provide children with special needs and their caretakers a unique opportunity to come together with community volunteers for a fun day of fishing and celebration they might not otherwise experience. Through these events, children with disabilities are shown that they can accomplish anything, offering a refreshing break from their daily challenges.

"We are excited about our new partnership with the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation," said Senior Vice President of Operations of Fishers of Men Tournament Trail, Bob Eads. "This seems like a natural fit with some outstanding folks, and we are eager to support their mission. We believe in the power of fishing to bring people together and make a positive impact on the lives of children with special needs."

To maximize the impact of this partnership, the Fishers of Men Tournament Trail will be coordinating new C.A.S.T. for Kids events. This hands-on involvement will not only promote our partnership but also directly benefit the children and families served by C.A.S.T. for Kids. By participating in these events, FOM members will help to grow the C.A.S.T. for Kids events, helping illustrate the commitment to the mission of both C.A.S.T. for Kids and FOM.

The Fishers of Men Tournament Trail will be listed as a Partner on the C.A.S.T. for Kids website, and joint events will be promoted on social media. This visibility will highlight how the partnership translates into tangible benefits for the community, providing a compelling reason for others to support the mission.

******* Important Guntersville National Championship Update******

Due to low water conditions and forecasted winds, Fishers of Men has made the decision to relocate the weigh-in of our National Championship to the Guntersville State Park. Teams will blast-off from the T Dock at the State Park located directly behind the Fishers of Men Tournament Trailer. Teams may still elect to come by water from other locations. All teams are required to weigh-in from the T-dock in the afternoon on Days 1 & 2.  Do not load your boat on the trailer before you weigh your fish.

This decision has been made with the safety of our anglers and equipment in mind. We regret any inconvenience this may cause but feel the safety of our anglers and their boats is paramount.

There will be an important meeting of the top 37 teams after the day 2 weigh-in directly in front of the Tournament trailer at the close of the scales. Blast-off cards for Day 3 will be given out and important instructions will be conveyed.

The Championship flight for Day 3 will all need to launch at Guntersville State Park as we will load these teams on the trailer before we begin the final weigh-in.

Teams electing to participate in the no-entry fee 3rd Day redemption tournament may still come by water and will weigh-in from the T Dock. This event will blast-off approximately 30 minutes after the Championship flight and will weigh in starting at 12:45 by 4 flights as on the info sheet

All teams, with the exception of the 1st and 2nd Place winners, who stay until the end of the Championship weigh-in are eligible to win the $1200 and $800 random Draw Prizes as well as the $500 Masterbuilt Grill.

We appreciate Marshall County Tourism and Sports and Katy Norton and the Lake Guntersville State Park and Michael Jeffries for working with us on short notice to facilitate this change.

Thanks for your understanding

The Fishers of Men National Office has officially announced the location of the 2019 Wildcard Tournament.

This event is new to the Berkley Team Series championship line-up. It will provide one last chance to qualify for the prestigious 2020 Berkley Team Series National Championship on the Harris Chain of Lakes in Lake County FL, where teams will compete for new Bass Cat boats and thousands of dollars in prize money.

This year’s Wildcard will be hosted by the Decatur Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau, in beautiful Decatur Alabama, on Lake Wheeler on November 8th and 9th.

Wheeler is one of Northern Alabama’s great fisheries on the Tennessee River. At just over 67,000 acres of surface area, it’s Alabama’s second largest lake. The National Office has been working with Andrew Kelley, Danielle Gibson, and the rest of the staff at the CVB to make this a memorable event.

There will be four ways to qualify for the National Championship at this tournament.

  1. The highest finishing Adult/Junior team will qualify
  2. The highest finishing Male/Female team will qualify
  3. The highest finishing registered Bass Cat Owner team will qualify*
  4. The top 20% of the tournament field will qualify

Stren Team Series National Championship

LEESBURG, FL (March 17, 2019) — The Greater Orlando Sports Commission, Visit Lake and the City of Leesburg will host the 2020 Fishers of Men Stren Team Series National Championship for the second time at Venetian Gardens on Florida’s Harris Chain of Lakes on March 7-14, 2020.

“We are pleased to welcome the Fishers of Men Stren Team Series National Championship back to Greater Orlando,” said Jason Siegel, CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. “The Harris Chain of Lakes is one of the most prolific big bass fisheries in Florida. With over 76,000 acres of water and beautiful spring weather, we are confident the anglers will have a positive experience in Lake County.”

The event is expected to attract 160 two-person teams over eight days, including five practice days and three competition days. The National Tournament Trail is comprised of 34 Team Series divisions, 21 Legacy Series divisions, 10 Ultimate Bass Challenge Series divisions, and 8 Weeknight Series divisions from across the eastern half of the country, which combine for over 300 tournament events annually.

"We are very excited about bringing our Stren Team Series National Championship, our biggest and most prestigious event of the season, back to the Harris Chain of Lakes, said Bobby Eads, Sr. Vice President of the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail. “The last time we were in Leesburg with this event, not only was the fishing outstanding, but the hospitality shown to our competitors made this community one of our favorites. In addition, Lindsey McBride, Brent Nelson, and the rest of the staff at the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, as well as the staff at the Lake County Parks Department, work very hard to assist us in making our event run as smooth as possible."

As one of the largest sport fishing event organizations in the country, this will mark the 22nd edition of their National Championship. Anglers competing in March will have an opportunity to earn a share of the purse valued at approximately $140,000 in cash and prizes.

“Lake County is excited to welcome back the Fishers of Men National Championship,” said Commissioner Tim Sullivan, Chairman of the Lake County Tourist Development Council. “The abundant Harris Chain of Lakes, in particular, has increasingly become a destination for major fishing tournaments such as this one, which is projected to bring more than 300 anglers to our great county. We wish them a successful event and hope they take some time to enjoy all that Lake County has to offer, both on and off our beautiful lakes.”
