Easter Weekend Slugfest on Lake Murray!

The 3rd stop of our 2019 season brought us back to Lake Murray, the site of one of the most incredible weigh-ins we have ever seen back in Feb. Conditions have changed considerablly with the Lake being back up to full pool. The weather would make if difficult to get around with sustained winds in the 15-20 mph range with gust to 30. But one thing South Carolina fisherman have come to understand is that when the wind blows on Murray the fish bite, and bite they did! Once again it took almost 21 lbs to get a check.

Leading the charge was the team of Russ Padgett and Meredith Havird who dropped a bag of 23.64 on the scales to take the win and the $4000 First place prize. Finishing second was Pure Fishing's Brad Rutherford and Tanner Parker who weighed 22.95 lbs. They also claimed the Extra $250 Highest Finisher award for Berkley Cast for Cash! Finishing 3rd were newcomers Todd and Rudy Huntley with 22.41 lbs which included the Big Fish of the day a 6.86 lb beauty! Finishing 4th and claiming the 2nd Highest Berkley Cast for Cash with 22.28 lbs was the team of Ronnie Mueller and Wayne Frierson who also took over the lead in the Seasons Points race. Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Josh McGregor and Randall Driggers who brought 21.74 lbs to the scales.

Most teams reported keying on the herring bite on windy points with many teams reporting they caught 30-40 fish! It might have been and rough day on the pond but Lake Murray continues to show out as well as our anglers!

We were blessed to have FOM Major League Fishing Pro Andy Montgomery as our honorary Weigh-master. Afterwards as our anglers ate Pizza and drinks Andy shared a powerful testimoney about how God is real and is there for us during good times and tough times. He challenged our anglers to develop a relationship with The Lord by first putting our Trust in Him and waht he did on the Cross for us and then spending time with Him on a consistant basis.
