The innaugural Fishers of Men, Pa UBC East high school state championship is in the books.  We were blessed with beautiful weather and almost perfect conditions on the Susquehanna River.  Seven teams went on the water at 7am to compete in an All Bass Over 1lb Count tournament.  The entire field had the same strategy to chase smallmouth and not bother the largemouth that are found in the lower section of the river. 

After 6 hours of fishing, Trent Carey & Joshua Kauffman are the 1st ever Fishers of Men, PA UBC East high school state champions.  They jumped out to an early commanding lead and remained consistant until the last hour.  They made a decision to stop fishing early and end the day with 32 pounds 8 ounces.  The stage was then set for for the second place team to possibly steal the victory.  With time running down, the second place team John Phillips & Ryan Park decided to make a move to a new location and that decision helped them make a big move in the standings.  They finished with 27 pounds 10 ounces when time ran out. They were putting on a show during the last hour of competition, but fell about 5 pounds short.
