The North Carolina East Fishers of Men Fenwick Local Legends Weeknight Series held their second tournament of the 2026 season on Pembroke Creek/Chowan River, Friday, March 27, 2026. The weather was sunny and in the high 70’s with the threat of an approaching cold front that was to pass through around 5:00pm with a temperature drop of 30 degrees and gusty north winds. The temperatures was around 50 degrees at weigh-in time. Six teams participated in the tournament and all the teams attended the pre-tournament meeting.

The meeting was started with a message given by Kenneth Wallace FOM NC East Chaplin who spoke on the importance of making time in our daily lives to read God’s Word. Kenneth shared a summary of the book of Ruth and how not only was Boaz a picture of Christ but how the field represented the world and we are the “Gleaners” trying to get by, but God provides for us in this world to bring us into relationship with him, like Ruth and Boaz. And like when Ruth came into a relationship with Boaz, by laying her life at his feet, others were affected and were brought into that relationship with her like Ruth’s Mother in Law Naomi. When we come into a relationship with God through Jesus, we have the opportunity to share what we have and bring others into relationship. Kenneth then distributed bookmarks with www.bibleplan.org on them, which is a free app that has numerous Bible reading plans to choose from. Kenneth also gave out FOM New Testament study books to all present. Three people stated they were going to commit to reading their Bible regularly. Pat Seigh, Tournament Director, closed in prayer.

After reviewing the rules highlights, our fishermen set out on Pembroke Creek/Chowan River in search of the winning catch. The fishermen found plenty of small fish with the big ones tough to find.  There were 24 fish weighed for a total 62.5 pounds. 24 of the fish were released back into the water for 100% release. The average number of fish per team was 4, average weight per team 10.42 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.61 pounds.

When the teams came to the scale, Justin Chamblee and Josh Powell, brought a five fish limit to the scales that weighed 22.61 pounds for First Place with a nice 7.13 pound Real Tree Big Fish. They took home $195.00 dollars for first place and big fish.  Second Place went to the team of Greg and Jim Dick with a five fish limit that weighed 12.25 pounds. They took home $45.00 dollars for second place. Third Place went to Kenneth Wallace and Jason Samson with five fish that weighed 10.93 pounds. There were only two places paid due to the number of boats entered in the tournament.

We would like to thank all those who helped with making this tournament a success, especially Kenneth Wallace, Gary Sawyer, Eric Ball, and Isaiah Seigh as well as all our fishermen who helped with set-up and take down of the scales and equipment.   We also would like to thank all the Fishers of Men sponsors; Falcon Boats, Mercury, RealTree Fishing, Power Pole, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, TH Marine, E3 Apparel and Frogg Toggs. We are very appreciative for their support!
