The North Carolina East Fishers of Men Fenwick Local Legends Weeknight Series held third tournament of the 2026 season on Little River, Friday, April 24, 2026. The weather was sunny and in the 80’s with the threat of thunder storms and Southeast winds 15-20 mph that made fishing a little tough. Seven teams participated in the tournament and all the teams attended the pre-tournament meeting.
Chaplin Kenneth Wallace shared the Biblical account of a Prophet who was told to do something specific from God, but he allowed himself to be deceived by a lie and so was punished. (Read 1Kings 13). Like the Prophet, we often believe the lie of the world. We say words that we know are not good but make excuses for it. We watch and listen to things that are not good and can be potentially harmful to our behaviors and relationships, but we make excuses for it. We should learn from this Biblical account and not believe or accept the lie into our lives and “Do it the way God said to do it”.
After reviewing the rules highlights, our fishermen set out on the Little River in search of the winning catch. The fishermen found the bite to be a little stingy with the wind causing some challenging conditions. There were 19 fish weighed for a total 52.3 pounds. 19 of the fish were released back into the water for 100% release. The average number of fish per team was 2, average weight per team 7.47 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.75 pounds.
When the teams came to the scale, Justin Chamblee and Josh Powell, brought a five fish limit to the scales that weighed 18.09 pounds for First Place with a nice 4.71 pound Real Tree Big Fish. They took home $230.00 dollars for first place and big fish. Second Place went to the team of Darren Saunders and Jason Smith with a five fish limit that weighed 12.28 pounds. They took home $50.00 dollars for second place. Third Place went to Gregg and Jim Dick with 3 fish that weighed 8.65 pounds. There were only two places paid due to the number of boats entered in the tournament.
We would like to thank all those who helped with making this tournament a success, especially Kenneth Wallace, Gary Sawyer, Eric Ball, and Isaiah Seigh as well as all our fishermen who helped with set-up and take down of the scales and equipment. We also would like to thank all the Fishers of Men sponsors; Falcon Boats, Mercury, RealTree Fishing, Power Pole, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, TH Marine, E3 Apparel and Frogg Toggs. We are very appreciative for their support!
