The North Carolina East Fishers of Men Fenwick Local Legends Weeknight Series held fourth tournament of the 2026 season on Roanoke River, Friday, May15, 2026. The weather was partly sunny and in the 80’s with Northwest winds 10-15 mph provided a comfortable day for our fishermen. Five teams participated in the tournament and all the teams attended the pre-tournament meeting.
Chaplin Kenneth Wallace talked about how we as fishermen share waypoints and information but often feel nervous about sharing the most important information we have. Kenneth explained the importance and ease of sharing the Gospel. He showed how to use John 3:16 to lead people to Christ and how to break down the verse in our own words, showing who God is, His love for all people, His sacrifice of Jesus for Man’s sins that it is for anyone and everyone, and which through acceptance brings eternal life. This is the best information you could ever share, so go boldly and give others the waypoints to eternal life. Kenneth closed his message with prayer.
After reviewing the rules highlights, our fishermen set out on the Roanoke River in search of the winning catch. The fishermen found the bite to be abundant of little fish with the bigger fish hard to find. There were 21 fish weighed for a total 42.2 pounds. 21 fish were released back into the water for 100% release. The average number of fish per team was 4, average weight per team 8.40 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.00 pounds.
When the teams came to the scale, Justin Chamblee and Josh Powell, brought a five fish limit to the scales that weighed 13.78 pounds for First Place with a nice 3.20 pound fish to anchor their bag. They took home $175.00 dollars for first place. Second Place went to the team of Patrick and Isaiah Seigh with a five fish limit that weighed 11.84 pounds that included the Real Tree Big Fish for the tournament that weighed 4.84 pounds. They took home $25.00 dollars for the Real Tree Big Fish. Third Place went to Gary Sawyer and Eric Ball with 5 fish that weighed 7.76 pounds. There was only one place paid due to the number of boats entered in the tournament.
We would like to thank all those who helped with making this tournament a success, especially Kenneth Wallace, Gary Sawyer, Eric Ball, and Isaiah Seigh as well as all our fishermen who helped with set-up and take down of the scales and equipment. We also would like to thank all the Fishers of Men sponsors; Falcon Boats, Mercury, RealTree Fishing, Power Pole, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, TH Marine, E3 Apparel and Frogg Toggs. We are very appreciative for their support!
