The North Carolina East Fishers of Men Fenwick Local Legends Weeknight Series held fifth tournament of the 2026 season on North River, Friday, June 26, 2026. The weather was hot and humid with the temperature in the 90’s with Southwest winds 15-25 mph and thunderstorms predicted during the tournament. Seven teams participated in the tournament and all the teams attended the pre-tournament meeting.
Tournament Director Pat Seigh delivered the message to our fishermen The Gospel “Gods Plan for Me”. He discussed how to present the Gospel to those who are seeking to know Jesus and wanting to be saved. Pat message starts with stating how GOD RULES. The Bible tells us that GOD created everything and he is in charge of everything. This is proven by Gods word in Genesis 1:1, Revelation 4:11and Colossians 1:16-17. He went on by mentioning that WE SINNED. Since the time of Adam and Eve, everyone has chosen to disobey God. The bible calls this sin. Because God is holy, God cannot be around sin. Sin separates us from God and the wage of sin is death. This is proven by Gods word in Roman 3:23, 6:26. GOD PROVIDES: God sent his son Jesus, the perfect solution to our sin problem to rescue us from the punishment we deserve. It’s something, we as sinners, we could never earn on our own. JESUS alone saves us! This is supported by Gods word in John 3:16 and Ephesians 2:8-9. JESUS GIVES; Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins and rose again. Because Jesus gave up his life for us, we can be welcomed into Gods family for eternity. Stated in Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21 and 1 Peter 3:18. So how do we respond? By the A,B,C’s.. A-Admit- Tell God that you admit you are a sinner, and that you are sorry for breaking Gods Law. B-Believe- Tell God that you believe that Jesus Christ died to pay the price for our sins. C-Commit- Tell God that you commit to stop living your life for yourself and start living it for God. Pat closed the message with prayer.
After reviewing the rules highlights, our fishermen set out on the North River in search of the winning catch. The fishermen found the bite to be pretty tough with numerous little fish however with no 5 fish limits weighed in. There were 10 fish weighed for a total 27.87 pounds. 8 fish were released back into the water for 80% release. The average number of fish per team was 1, average weight per team 3.98 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.79 pounds.
When the teams came to the scale, Josh Powell, fishing solo, brought three fish to the scales that weighed 7.32 pounds for First Place with a nice 3.74 pound fish to anchor his bag. He took home $195.00 dollars for first place. Second Place went to the team of Patrick and Isaiah Seigh with one big ole girl that weighed 6.71 pounds that was also the Real Tree Big Fish for the tournament. They took home $85.00 dollars for second place and the Real Tree Big Fish. Third Place went to Jason Samson, fishing solo, with 3 fish that weighed 5.53 pounds. Unfortunately, he had two dead fish that gave him a .50 pound penalty. His final weight was 5.03 pounds. There were only two place paid due to the number of boats entered in the tournament.
We would like to thank all those who helped with making this tournament a success, especially Kenneth Wallace, Gary Sawyer, Eric Ball, and Isaiah Seigh and Josh Powell as well as all our fishermen who helped with set-up and take down of the scales and equipment. We also would like to thank all the Fishers of Men sponsors; Falcon Boats, Mercury, RealTree Fishing, Power Pole, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, TH Marine, E3 Apparel and Frogg Toggs. We are very appreciative for their support!
