24 Teams launched on a cloudy threatening NE wind day on the Susquehanna Flats out of Tydings Park. From a pleasant Friday practice, it changed to tougher conditions with a tougher bite due to northeast winds increasing throughout the day which blew right into the launch ramp channel making it look like Lake Erie by the 2:00pm weigh-in! Welcome to 2 experienced Chesapeake Bay teams Richard Leadbeater/Chris Hutchenson and Nate Brown/Nick Rogers. Michael Martinelli and Derek Dunmeyer also fished their first FOM tournament this weekend. Congratulations to all teams and great job for navigating and enduring the tough conditions safely.
The super tough team of Shawn Ramey and Evan Roache topped the field with 5 fish for 20.41lbs and the second place big fish of 5.48lbs which provided them with quite a haul of $1,425.00 and a new Fin-X Jerkbait/Topwater rod! Second place was the hard working team of Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton with 18.07lbs. Rob Hager and Ian Godwin braved running the bay to bring back 17.75lbs and the Realtree Monster Bass of the event of 5.90 lbs. Congratulations to Richard Leadbeater and Chris Hutchenson for bringing in 15.92lbs and finishing fourth.
A last minute decision to enter the tournament paid off for Jacob Sponheimer and Brandon Baker with a solid limit weighing 15.35 lbs for 5th place. Sean Peddicord and Lonell Merchant finished in 6th place with 15.03 lbs. Tom and Jimmy placed 7th with 14.87 lbs.
The points race for the year shows Shawn and Evan leading the pack by 3 points over Shawn and Gary. Ian Godwin and Rob Hager hold 3rd just 3 points behind Shawn and Gary. There is a tie for 4th between Tom and Jimmy and the team of Dan and Terry.
Thank you to First Baptist Church of Aberdeen for allowing us the use of their facility and thank you to the First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace for providing a great chili and cornbread meal. Dawn and Dwayne do an excellent job each time they are involved!
