19 teams launched “in style” on 6/6/2026 for Maryland’s 4th Tournament out of Marshall Hall. The dock sustained damage from the winter ice and has not yet been repaired making low tide launching tough. So, the teams were backed into and retrieved from the water like Bassmaster Classic anglers to avoid having to use the dock! Thank you to Shawn Ramey, Evan Roache, Sean Peddicord, Lonell Merchant, and Rob Hager for running tow vehicles and trailers and former FOM Director Ian Godwin for directing traffic! A beautiful 70 degree morning with light winds and a 90 degree afternoon made the day mostly pleasant to fish!
The strong local team of Tom Bateman and Tim McGlenn took home the gold with a beautiful 16.23lb bag of largemouth bass in a beautiful Falcon bass boat! They took home $1,130.50 for their efforts plus a brand new Fin-X rod for having the second place big bass for the day of 4.04lbs. In second place was Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton with 15.16 lbs. A new combination of FOM anglers Dan Downer and Nate Brown took home 3rd place as well as catching the Realtree Monster Bass of the tournament at 5.35 lbs. That is a true giant lately on the river.
4th place went to Tom and Jimmy Rufenacht. Jamie and Joey Johnson caught the 5th place bag of 13.94lbs. The Father/Son Adult Jr. duo of Robert and Sean Budinko had another strong showing of 6th place with 13.66lbs. Nice job! Paul Wiley and Jon Crans weighed in another consistent bag of 13.21lbs for 7th place. Jacob Vandevander and Dylan Otte were 8th with 12.58 lbs.
The point race for 2026 has taken a turn with Tom and Jimmy taking the lead by ONE point over the 2nd place team of Shawn Ramey and Evan Roache. In 3rd place is Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton. Paul Wiley and Jon Crans are in 4th, and 5th place is Ian Godwin and Rob Hager. The points race will be decided at the 5th and final event of the season at Conowingo Lake where many points races have been made and lost!
Thank you to Marbury Baptist Church for a wonderful tournament dinner! Pastor Tim Bean and his congregation have been hosting FOM – MD tournaments since the division started! Pastor Tim will be retiring in September. He is wonderful, kind, faithful minister of the gospel that is so nice to work with and we will miss him. He has pastored this church for 43 years!!! Jon Crans delivered the gospel message and a challenge to us all not to keep "fishing the same waypoint" for years with our lives...but to grow in God's Word and in our lives as we go through the process of sanctification in our Christian lives.
