Our first Ohio Team Series tournament is in the books and it is funny how those pre fishing stories about the tough bite seem to change a little on the day of the event. From what we heard the staff was not sure if we would have a weigh-in but we did.
We kicked off our weekend Friday night at the Emmanuel Christian Church in Greenfield. We had a great meal of homemade chicken and noodles, corn, coleslaw, and loads of desert. We look forward to coming to this Church each year because of the warm welcome and great food.
After eating more than we should a group of men recovering from addictions sang a few spiritual songs that kept you moving in the pews followed by a strong message from Pastor Larry Maynard. Pastor Maynard brought us a message about addiction and challenged each of us to take action if we see someone suffering from addiction or depression before it is too late.
Saturday was tournament day and after the live wells were checked the teams were sent out at official sunrise. As I mentioned before the fishing was reported to be tough but some teams had a successful day. The team of Zac Mumford and Levi Northrup took first place honors with five bass weighing 16.42 Lbs. Great job guys. In second was our father son team of Justen and Ty Fain, who are usually near the top. Team Fain and Fain had five bass weighing 14.26 Lbs. Todd Thompson and B.J. Baxter were third with a limit weighing 11.39 Lbs. In fourth place was Tayler Coy and Jake Pequignot with 8.14 Lbs. Fifth place went to Brandon Davis and Cameron Smith with 8.07 Lbs.
Big Bass honors went to Troy Zaerr and Robert Senger with a bass weighing 5.89 Lbs
