A BEAUTIFUL, BUT OVERCAST DAY FOR OUR THIRD TOURNAMENT OF THE SEASON
Fishers of Men, Alabama South’s third tournament at Lake Mitchell was a success. Our Friday night meeting was held at the pavilion at Higgins Ferry boat ramp. We had a great Friday night with 29 present at the meeting. Brother Joe Turner started his message with a reminder of our last two messages: Having the mindset of Christ and living in a chaotic world. He then read to us from the book of Psalms, chapter 120, verses 1-7. In this book, David speaks about being in a world that he does not fit in. He felt cut off and in a toxic environment. He wanted peace but all they wanted was war. He was crying out to the Lord in distress and God answered him. He mentioned how in the book of Samuel, Chapter 6, Saul sought after David to kill him. David’s faith kept him from death. The Lord protected and delivered him in his time of need. In a demonstration using bass lures, Joe showed what our life looks like with and without Christ. Without Christ, our life is like an unorganized lure box, chaotic and no organization. Everything tangled together and useless. With Christ, our life is like an organized lure box. Everything is in place and organized. Even if the box gets thrown around, it stays organized and use full no matter the situation. He reminded us that we should all try to make a difference in the things we do. Reminding us that fishing is something we can enjoy but it does not really do anything for us. We must live for Christ and be filled with the Holy Spirit. It is a challenge to live for Christ. Thank You Joe for the words of encouragement and reminding us that we all need to rely on the Lords trust and righteous path. At the end of the night we had 15 boats fishing on Saturday. We blasted the 15 boats off as soon as it was safe light. Congratulations to the Team of Zac and Lavon White weighing in 18.97 pounds to take 1st place and also weighing in the biggest fish of the day at 4.54 pounds. Second place team of Randy and James Maharrey weighed in 17.55 lbs. Third place went to Brain and Donnie Moye with a weight of 16.73 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was Daniel Kelley and Cody Roberson with 14.24 lbs and Richard Hardy and Nathan White with 12.76 lbs. At the end of the day there were 71 bass brought to the scales and 71 released alive to be caught another day. The 71 bass weighed a total of 179.34 lbs. This was a great event for our third tournament of the year.
